Too Many Resist Items?

Brendan says, 'ok why do we have so many resist items in game?'

Brendan says, 'because its a bit unbalancing and giving a lot of pkers few choices for weapons'

LadyAce says, 'it seems like what you're saying first is "I think we have too many resist items in the game." -- yes?'

Brendan nods solemnly.

Brendan says, 'before it was resist smite was made amulet.. now i hear you can buy em'

Kaige says, 'we added more to give more choices and bring it into better balance instead of only one type of weapon being effectively blocked'

LadyAce says, 'I think we'd like to have a resist in there for everything'

Brendan says, 'but by doing so you have limited choices in pk weapons.. jawbone for strength, switchblade for dex.. and oaken staff for con unless there is a resist pound im not aware of'

Sandra says, 'if you think you can use just those 3 weapons, you should get out more'

Also, some of the builders will often have some feedback on suggestions and typos that get reported with some of their reasoning for why things are the way they are or won't be incorporated into the areas.

General Suggestions/Questions

o Every now and again, I receive the message "You wound so and so with your critical hit" during combat. There is no helpfile on critical hits, and I was wondering what the message means, exactly.

Basically, you get a bonus percentage modifier on that hit and do more damage with it.

o Why does my secondary attack item give the wrong message? It looks like my primary weapon is doing the damage.

We have a bug where secondary attack items are showing up as their primary weapon's damage type for some reason. Rufus says this also happens for mobs with multiple attacks.

o Under help color string, it states that a single color string is turn on once, and turned off once Is there a limitation where during the string is it turn on? Does it have to be at the start?

There is no limitation on where in the string the color is turned on/off.

o Is bleh bleh |15bleh|7 still considered one color? Since I only turn on color once?

It doesn't make much sense to have a |7 at the end of the string as it would be naturally terminated with a |U6 and wouldn't affect anything beyond that. So yes, only using the |15 would count as one color unless something else came after the |7 in the string, then it would be two colors. Changing between colors turns one off as it turns another on.

o Can strings be destroyed when they are on the storage string objects?

If you mean through item damage or DTs, they should get restrung to a new storage item because the code recognizes them as being strung. If you are uncertain if something is a string or a zip-string or a normal mundane item, you can ask an immortal to check for you.

o How is possible for someone to dodge the stun spell while sleeping? Is that a bug?
