What's Up With Ticks Now?

Kaige says, 'ok. if you've got questions, raise your hand and please try to keep the spam to a minimum'

Addiction says, 'okay, I know this is covered on the board... but I've been away, so bear with me. What's happening to ticks?'

Huginn says, 'they've become less important'

Kaige says, 'basically ticks are now a fixed length and they no longer mark the end of an affect'

Huginn nods solemnly.

Huginn says, 'things happen throughout'

Huginn says, 'instead of on that moment'

Addiction says, 'so, they're for weather and time and that's it?'

Straussy says, 'no more planning events ON the tick... now duration is duration'

Asterix looks up into the sky and ponders.

Huginn tries to think of other on tick things that still exist

Kaige says, 'time is still based off them, but even those things can happen throughout the tick -- helped spread out the update cycles'

Addiction nods solemnly.

Addiction says, 'makes sense'

Kaige says, 'so less clumping around the half hours'

Somar says, 'smoother flow of time results, of course'

Addiction says, 'oh about the mob healing, will it be more like player healing now? or will it still be enormous amounts'

Addiction says, 'just enormous amounts spread out over time, or what have you'

Huginn says, 'they heal throughout the tick'

Huginn says, 'similar to players'

Kaige says, 'it's exactly like player healing.. they heal through out the tick instead of how low level mobs, if you waited too close to a tick, you'd end up having to kill them twice because they healed'

Addiction says, 'yeah, water leapers, suddenly grow fangs and claws on the half hours'

Addiction says, 'it's scary!'

Kaige says, 'and cats, and mice, and.. and... and...'

Kaige nods solemnly.

Straussy says, 'i noticed nestor took on a new project'

Any Plans for New Skills?

Addiction says, 'oh, are there any plans to implement new skills? or are you done for the time being?'

Kaige says, 'i don't believe there's anything in the works right now... but Huginn might know of something different?'

Huginn says, 'I can see us expanding skills rather than adding new ones for the time being'

Raist smiles happily.

Addiction nods solemnly.

Huginn says, 'so sort of the best of both worlds for those that have used up their practices but still have things they'd consider less than valuable'

Addiction says, 'oh yes, practises... I forgot those existed'

Addiction peers at himself myopically.

London Expansion? Other Area Updates?

Santa-Claus says to Kaige, 'last week's areas update said you're working on an expansion to london. is that the same one leila was working on all those years ago? and a quick second question, is there an area update this week too, or just code updates?'

Kaige nods her agreement with Santa-Claus.

Santa-Claus says, 'nod to both? =p'

Santa-Claus giggles.

Kaige says, 'area updates are usually posted on Friday mornings'

Santa-Claus says, 'aha!'

Kaige says, 'Yeah. basically Leila had taken the skeleton that Ptah and I had designed and laid out years ago and she put a bunch of flesh on it...'

Kaige says, 'just trying to work out a bunch of kinks and make sure things are working the way they're supposed to there'

Santa-Claus nods solemnly.

Kaige says, 'so that's the London Expansion which I think of more as Big London and not really an expansion, mostly cause it's like 300 rooms to 30...'

Santa-Claus whistles appreciatively.

Addiction says, 'there's housing for that then?'

Santa-Claus says, 'wow, that is pretty big'

Kaige says, 'and yes, there will be more housing in the rest of london... better more stylish, and all that'

Kaige says, 'area update... yes there is one.. there's not a lot that's gonna be immediately visible in it. Snapper's been doing some internal code conversions and uncovered a bunch of building errors'

Santa-Claus says, 'aha'

Kaige says, 'some of that will be completely invisible, and some of it will make things suddenly work the way the builder thought they were gonna'

Kaige says, 'oh. one of the things that will be fixed tomorrow is the nurse... if you asked her for help early on, and she's been dissing you since... she'll soon deal with you again if you ask her now'

Addiction says, 'the one in london?'

Kaige nods her agreement with Addiction.

Addiction says, 'neat'

Kaige says, 'only other area that's gotten a lotta TLC this week is inferno and that was just a couple of internal things and a lot of typo fixes.'

Min Level for Inferno?

Addiction says, 'what's the minimum level for inferno?'

Santa-Claus nods solemnly.

Kaige says, 'there's no hard limit, but I'm sure there is a practical limit, but it includes being prepared, cautious, and attentive'

Kaige says, 'no idling afk there for the weak'

Santa-Claus says, 'that disqualifies a lot of people!'

Addiction says, 'oh, but I do so love idleing in dangerous areas at level 10'

Addiction sulks in the corner.

Kaige says, 'if you haven't gone before, I'd personally recommend not going alone'

Addiction says, 'set wimpy full and have yourself a flee fest'

Reqs for Disguise too High?

Santa-Claus says to Kaige, 'you might have discussed this while i was gone, like say, when the skill was implemented. but why are the reqs on disguise so very high?'

Kaige says, 'it may not be very powerful game wise, but in terms of player interactions it's a pretty powerful skill in many ways... it allows you quite a bit of anonymity'

Santa-Claus says, 'yea, that's sort of why i wanted it'

Santa-Claus chuckles politely.

Kaige says, 'and compared to some others out there, they're not that high'

Addiction says, 'disguise is really fun'

Kaige nods solemnly.

Kaige says, 'there's a few wrinkles here and there, but it's a lot of fun'

Santa-Claus says, 'i guess i'll just have to make a second character'

Santa-Claus pouts.

Kaige says, 'and if you've got ideas for things you'd like to see added to various areas for more choices/possibilities the idea channel is your friend'

Addiction says, 'anyway, my new question is are there plans, or even does there already exist a disguise tool?'

Kaige looks up into the sky and ponders.

Kaige says, 'I'd have to look that up.. I know somethign was suggested, but I'm not sure if it made it in yet'

Addiction says, 'like a little bastard face mask kit or something'

Addiction says, 'well, something not as simpsony, but you get the idea'

Addiction says, 'it would be a great item in the carnival'

Kaige says, 'I have monkeys in one of my in progress area that at least throw mud... I think the ones in the seoni do too'

Addiction says, 'yeah, but then you'd need ape poo lying around'

Kaige says, 'yeah well, I also have to consider what certain people would do with an item like that on chat'
