DTs and Lost Notes?

Isam says, 'Ok, why do DTs eat paper and coupons, all my eq is bad enough...?'

Isam says, 'i lost notes from about 4 years ago too.'

Isam sighs loudly.

Sigrid says, 'don' hoard coupons, mak'em inte strings'

Krynn says, 'because DT's are supposed to be dangerous and keep players in check'

LadyAce says, 'it's not a good idea to hoard important notes on your character'

Isam says to Sigrid, 'I wasn't, only the half strings i got from the elf game'

LadyAce says, 'you should copy and paste them into text files on your computers'

Krynn says, 'put em in ur house and lock the door'

Sigrid says to Isam, 'aye, well, bugger them DTs, or better, avoid'em'

Kaige says, 'best thing to do with notes you want to save, is read through them and log them to a file on your hardrive, and make a back up'

LadyAce says, 'it's easy to lose notes, and impossible to recover them if you don't have personal backups made'

Isam says to Sigrid, 'I didnt do it intentionally'

Kaige has learned that one the hard way too many times.

Sigrid grins evilly.

Isam nods solemnly.

Sigrid says to Isam, 'really?'

Isam rolls his eyes, exasperated with Sigrid.

Kaige says, 'or write on the wrong one at the wrong time'

Isam says, 'ok, so basicly There's no reason for but cruelness, but i shoulda bin smarter, question answered =P'

Kaige says, 'well, it's also a question of disk space. Notes are probably one of our biggest space hogs'

LadyAce says, 'the saving of strings is a kindness from the staff :P it hasn't always been that way'

Isam nods solemnly.

Hunt Too Powerful?

Sigrid says, 'why is hunt so powerful? the right person can hunt from bengal to sanfran'

Sigrid says, 'a lot of rooms, and over water too'

Ea! says, 'It's long overdue for a rewrite.'

Sigrid nods solemnly.

LadyAce says, 'I don't think it measures water vs non water...just length of path'

Ea! says, 'We'd like it to track who has moved through a room and only let you hunt them.'

Isam says, 'while the crossing between ireland and britain is more 6 or 7'

Sigrid says, 'yes, but being able to hunt over waters IS kinda dumb'

Ea! says, 'But we need something to fill the niche that it currently fills.'

Kaige says to Isam, 'it's a question of balancing "interesting" and geographical accuracy and is up to individual builders usually'

Ea! says, 'We've got some ideas on that, too, but haven't gotten it coded yet.'

Isam says, 'Tracking would be completely different than how hunt works...'

Isam nods solemnly.

LadyAce says, 'it's also the sort of thing where sometimes what 'feels' like just connection is a part of a larger area. Other times, it's just where one area runs into another'

Sigrid says to Ea!, 'after skill trees eh?'

Isam says, 'hunt strikes me as something thrown up quickly.'

Isam shrugs helplessly.

Adamar says, 'like the 10 rooms between klein and the abbey? all trees'

Kaige says to Isam, 'I believe the version of hunt we have now is one of the original skills Sadist coded'

Isam nods solemnly.

LadyAce says, 'that's actually big because of Black Forest being intended to link around it'

Sigrid says, 'aye, so the answer to my question be something like, yes, we know, we're considering changing it?'

Sigrid nods to herself - she must be getting senile.

LadyAce says, 'more like ...we'd like to change it someday, oh yes.'

Strung Bag Problem?

Adamar says, 'i have question on bags and strung containers'

LadyAce nods solemnly.

Adamar says, 'strings don't have to follow standard rent rules, so strung bags are the best in terms of rent/hold ratio'

LadyAce raises an eyebrow inquiringly.

Adamar says, 'do you plan to get rid of that too, or can i buy some better ingame bags'

LadyAce says, 'I think if a strung bag is out of spec, it'll be fixed.'

LadyAce says, 'so it won't do you any good to buy up out of spec bags'

Upcoming Code & Area Changes?

Tobias says, 'What's cooking for the newest coding updates for not-this-week?'

Tobias says, 'IE, what can we go 'ooo' and 'aaa' about in the future? ^_~'

Kaige says, 'umm.. I've been more busy with building stuff than code stuff.'

Kaige scuffles her feet around in the dirt.

Ea! says, 'Been mostly scrambling with all the crashes.'

Kaige nods her agreement with Ea!.

Kaige says, 'and with moving too'

Pentara says, 'How about this... are there any new areas in the works?'

Kaige says to Pentara, 'lots in the works, '

Kaige says, 'not too many close to ready to install yet tho'

LadyAce says, 'yea, lotsa stuff is in the works, but I don't think we have any amazing news :('

Kaige has created the builder board!

Pentara nods her agreement with Kaige.

Kaige says, 'Stuff that's worked on and committed is reported in the Weekly Area updates, so the areas that are seeing progress mostly are kae's hell and Straussy's titanic lately.'

Kaige says, 'I haven't been good and committed the stuff I've been working on lately.. and also I've started spiffing things up in Viceroyal Lima for July'

Game & Event Ideas

LadyAce says, 'someone suggest what I should do for Wednesday night games :P I can't decide if I should do tag or try to be more original'

Tobias says, 'more original!'

Pentara says, 'My suggestion for games is trivia!'

Tobias says, 'Play 'peg the monkey', where a monkey randomly runs around certain areas/timezones, and you tag it instead of players.'

Pentara says, 'How about.... a carnival games day? Prizes for throwing pies at a clown, a shooting gallery, etc.? I guess it would be a lot of work to set up though.'

LadyAce says to Pentara, 'those are fun when clans run them. Nanok tried to get one going but no one wanted to join him on it'

Kaige says to Pentara, 'I think the Institute was planning another festival again this year. I dunno about Albion... '

Kaige says, 'I wanna do another tp this summer, but that's shaming me into wanting to finish cleaning the log from the last one.'

Quickdraw & Two-handed Guns?

YieXa says, 'I have a question regarding the shotgun... I just got it again to try it... but it doesn't seem to shoot in inventory with quickdraw'

YieXa says, 'last time, late night, another imm tried it too, and it didn't work for him/her... (couldn't remember... tired...)'

Kaine says, 'Doesss the gun need to be one handed to be quickdrawn?'

YieXa blinks.

Kaige says, 'possibly. that was my first thought, but I don't see a mention of it in the helpfile.'

YieXa says, 'help quickdraw says I can't use it on bows or crossbows.... but I'm hoping shotgun's a technological weapon'

Kaige says, 'I'd have to dig deeper into the code, unless ea's already doing that.'

Ea! says, 'Sorry -- got pulled afk for a few. Yes, quickdraw only works on one handed guns. It should give a message saying that if you try to quickdraw a two handed weapon.'

Kaine says, 'How did the mud machine move go, all go smoothly?'

LadyAce says, 'pretty smoothly, yea'

LadyAce says, 'router gave me some trouble at a few points but I am hoping we're ok for good now'

Kaine says, 'What did you have to do - physically pick the thing up and drive it home?'

LadyAce says, 'yea'

YieXa says, 'with the router?'

LadyAce says, 'The router config seems to require me to do NAT, yea, even though I have static IPs'

LadyAce says, 'the router maps the statics on to the internal IPs, it won't let me give the statics directly to the computers'

LadyAce says, 'and then apparently there's some setting called 'Threshold' which needs to be set to '50%' not '75%' like it comes pre-configured'
