Each award listen below is a link to a more detailed explanation of the reason for as well as the "award" associated with each. Not all of these will have been given each year and may not continue to be given every year in the future. The Award categories and individual awards are customized each year based on events and the nominations.

There are a number of awards given out to write in categories every year. These aren't listed above. We have no way of knowing what tey will be ahead of time. Some have been listed in the past winners page.

Award Descriptions

Each year, the Expies nominations are opened to everyone in the LegendMUD community. Ballots are built from the nominations received and the final votes are open to all members of the community. The final results reflect the opinions of the immortal staff only in as much as they also participate as members of the community in the nomimation and voting process.

Most Helpful
This award is given to the person who shows the greatest energy and skill at helping others in need.

Best Clan
Given to the best organization, be it pkill clan or roleplaying clan.

Best Guildmaster
Given to an individual for their past or present leadership of a clan.
Award: whois, pretitle

Best Roleplaying Melodrama
Given to the best group roleplaying performance during the past year.

Best Supporting Player in a Roleplaying Melodrama
Given to the best performance by a peripherally involved character or mob.

Most Memorable Wedding
Honoring the roleplay wedding of the year.

Best Male Roleplayer
Given to the male character displaying the best roleplay.

Best Female Roleplayer
Given to the female character displaying the best roleplay.

Best House
In honor of the most creative use of a house, furnishing, decorating and skill in matching what is available to their personal roleplay.

Best Hack 'n' Slasher
Given to the scariest, most efficient killing machine, the Hack 'N' Slash award is given to the character whose play has shown mastery of and great delight in the gaming aspects of the mud.

Best Death
Given to the best death, be it specific death on a specific time, or string of deaths, or oft-repeated circumstance.

Best Male Mud Citizen
The citizenship awards are given to the male character -- and the player behind the character -- whose presence is regarded as most valuable on the mud, exemplifying the view of the mud as a social microcosm.

The citizenship awards are given to the female character -- and the player behind the character -- whose presence is regarded as most valuable on the mud, exemplifying the view of the mud as a social microcosm.

Best Strung item
This award goes to the character whose use of a strung item award is most creative.

Best Player Equipment Theme
For the character whose clothing and equipment best fits their RP persona.

Best Warcry
Goes to the best personal message used in the warcry skill.

Best Description
Given to the character who makes the best use of the description options available -- including their short, long, and extra (look-at) desc.

Best Illusion
Given in honor of the most creative or best use of the illusion spell.

Most Likely to Succeed
Given to the character whose skills -- be they economic, social, or political -- are most likely to bring about greatness throughout their life.

Most Sportsmanlike Conduct in Pkill
This award is given to the individual displaying the best sense of fair play and good conduct in use of the playerkilling system.

Slander Memorial Award
Given to the character who had the greatest difficulty getting started, this award is in honor of Slander, whose difficulties levelling and time spent as a low-level character were both excessive.

Most Likely to Help a DT/Overrent Victim
This award is given to the person most willing to assist fellow players whose characters have fallen on hard times.

Most Helpful to New Players
This award is given to the person who shows the greatest energy and skill at helping newcomers to learn the game system and become oriented to the community.

Areas


Elessar memorial Award
given in memory of the immort who helped create the historical concept of the mud, is given to the area which best represents history.
H.G. Wells Medal
goes to the area you would most like to visit in real life if you were capable of time travel.
Best Room
goes to the single room in an eligible area with the nicest description, atmosphere, or other superior qualities. Note that
Best Item
goes to the item you feel has most enhanced the game; not the best in stats, but most useful, most interesting, prettiest, cleverest.
The Special Vampy Award for Best Mob
goes to the best mobile. Best not as in toughest, but as in Best. You decide what that means
The Special Lampy Award For best Quest
goes to the coolest quest. Any quest found in an eligible area is valid.
Best Special Effect
goes to the niftiest special effect, echo, or mob behavior
Best Death Trap
hould be self-explanatory.
Golden Squirrel Award
goes to the mob who best exemplifies the spirit of the vorpal squirrel
Best Area (overall)
is given as an award for the best overall area added during the time frame. Considerations should include quests, game balance, writing, design, etc.
Best Writing
given to the area that has the best feel based on the writing. This does not mean the most verbose but the most appropriate for the atmosphere.
Best Housing
given to the area that has the most attractive and appropriate housing.
Best Area update
goes to the area that was most improved over the year in either a single update or a series of updates.

Immortals


Immortal You Are Most Likely to Ask for Help
When the going gets tough and you need a helping hand, this is the Immortal most players are looking for.
Best Poofs
Awarded to the Immortal whos poof is superior to all other. (Note: Immortals often change their poof's regularly, please specify a specific poof not just 'Rufus' poof')
Snazziest Dresser
Awarded to the Immortals with the best, or at least the most interesting sense of style.
Best Builder
Goes to the immortal whose body of work in building areas is most worthy of the award; you can check who built what by typing AREAS within the game.
Best Administrator
Goes to the immortal whose work as an administrator of the mud has best kept the mud going.
Best Public Relations Liason
Goes to the best PR immortal for work in RP, games, The Legendary Times, strings, player description registration, assisting players, the lecture series, the Expies, the Q&A, the WWW pages, etc.
The Sadist for Best Coder
Named after one of Legend's architects, the Sadist is awarded to the coder(s) whose Mud server code, not mob code has shown them to be the best in the business.
Best GameMaster
Awarded to the Immortal from any department that over the year has hosted games in a superior fashion.
Coolest Head in a Crisis
For calming things down on chat, bringing us through chaotic circumstances, etc.
Best Mediator
Awarded to the Immortal who is the best at conflict resolution between individuals.

Coding Awards


Best Code project
Awarded to the best project and the coder who worked on it from the past year. This award is specifically for large projects
Best New Code Feature
Awarded to the best new feature and the coder who worked on it from the past year. This award is specifically for small, but still new, code updates.
Best Code Improvement
Awarded to the best current code improvement and the coder who worked on it from the past year. This award is for current features that have been updated and/or improved.
Best Bug
Awarded to the best(worst?) bug and the coder who created it from the past year. This award is to honor the most exciting, fun, explosive, and glorious muck-ups a coder could ever accidentally produce.
