Aboriginal Dreamtime

The aboriginal Dreamtime was the time in which the world was shaped, and man, the animals and the plants were created. The creation myths and legends vary extensively from one tribe to another, in some cases having similar variations, and in other cases directly contradicting each other. Most tribes had stories that explain how prominent landscape features were formed, how their tribe was established, and why the local animals behave as they do. In this area, a few of these stories are illustrated, with the help of a couple of tribes. These tribes are not intended to represent any particular tribes from modern-day Australia, as we are talking of a time FAR in the distant past, when things were probably quite different. (But very few stories of the dreaming focus on everyday life, so who is to know how accurate this is?)
