Smee says, 'Now that pk timers are installed... can we make bot healers?'

'I'd say no,' LadyAce says. 'Bots aren't a particularly good thing for the mud.'

LadyAce says, 'I know of no plans to allow them.'

'What was the original argument to bot healers?' Smee says.

'I don't think we want to encourage bots any more than we have,' Kaige says. 'We're interested in promoting PLAYER INTERACTION. We don't need more mobs. we can build those ourselves.'

'Personally, I'd like to take out the ability for everyone to go ooc anywhere but at innkeepers,' Sandra says.

Kaige says, 'That's going to be normal ooc.'

Kaige says, 'If I remember correctly from last week's Q&A right?'

'That would be good i think,' a tall wanderer with red-rimmed eyes says, glancing about for an easy kill.

Drako says, 'I can only go ooc from an inn...'

A colorful buccaneer says, 'Yeah, so i don't get stranded in the middle of PD when the leader decides to give up.'

LadyAce says, 'Soon, no one will be able to go ooc from anywhere but inns.'

Sandra says, 'You shouldn't be using ooc as a means to get out of an ic situation.'

Magic Sink Jesus says, 'Is magic sink ever going to change to where my 90 mind spell can actually break a 70 mind sink, and my 90 mind sink can actually sink a 70 mind spell? Ie: cast level.'

'Changing the formula for magic sink to be based more on mind vs,' Ea! says to Jesus. 'Mind instead of cast level has been on our list of balance changes for quite some time.'

Jesus says, 'It's annoying to have dominating mind, depend on that to win, and get shut down. Because of cast levels.'

Jesus says, 'Lets face it, a mage is much easier if you get cure light or roots early, you shouldn't have to pay for that in the long run.'

'As I said, it's on our list to change,' Ea! says to Jesus.

Playerbase Size

'Does it bother the imms at all (or affect them in any way) that the mud used to have around 40-50 players at all times, sometimes 60-70 in peaks, and now only 30-40 avg and 40-50 in peaks?' Drako says.

'And do you think that has anything to do with the recent string of unpopular changes?' Drako says.

'You need to remember that its also summertime for all the college students,' Sandra says.

'We have high times and low times,' Sandra says.

Drako says, 'Summertime is the best time. i remember last summer when there were like 80 people on...'

LadyAce says to Kaige, 'Probably most useful to compare may to may?'

'It's also summer and school's out so a lot of people lose access,' Kaige says.

Kaige was looking for the may one.. that was the most recent.

Sandra says, 'Yea, but not everyone has computers at home ;).'

Drako says, 'Ive been here a couple summers now, and it wasnt this far down...'

LadyAce says, 'The 99 numbers are in the LT, I can pull them up real quick.'

'At any rate, the old averages had us with an average of 33 to 38 people, average peak 58, highest peak 71,' LadyAce says.

'Which is a bit higher than what we have lately, 28-34,' LadyAce says.

'And yes, it's possible that we're losing players because they disagree with our decisions,' LadyAce says.

'So, in answer to my question...?' Drako says.

Shard says, 'Or just get bored, or what ever and leave.'

'At this point, we think we're making good decisions,' LadyAce says.

Drako rolls around on the ground with laughter.

Ea! says, 'It's also possibly the lack of advertising, the increase in lag, or one of many other factors...'

'I'm gonna go with the 'people come and go,' Sandra says. 'But most say they're going and stay' comment.'

Cumference says, 'Yeah i keep saying i'm gonna leave, but i keep staying, mud addiction..sigh.'

'Theres too many 'factors' it seems...' Drako says to Ea!.

A dark hooded minister says, 'Yea, lag sucks lately.'

LadyAce says, 'We're not making a game which would be fun for every player who walks in the door.'

Shard says, 'It be nice if we didnt see constant downgades in our characters though.'

Cumference says, 'At least pkok satisfies a lot of ppl =P.'

'Hey I just put in lots of new stuff in beowulf and promptly get told it all sucks,' Kaige says to Shard.

Kaizen says in a friendly tone to Kaige, 'I like the eq!'

'That's all some people know how to say,' Kir says confidently to Kaige.

'Makes me not want to put in any new stuff in my areas =P,' Sandra says.

'I know it looks nice, its just a combination of past changes is almost totaly destoryed my desire to play anymore,' Shard says to Kaige.

Drako doesn't go to Beowulf much. Why would he?

PKOK Changes

'Pkok is obviously not good for everyone,' a dark hooded minister says. 'Some very simple steps could be taken to make it more acceptable to a great many more people. Why aren't these ideas being considered or new ones being implemented to satisify these people?'

'The idea of pkok as I understand it is to make pk as enjoyable for EVERYONE as possible, not just the rpers and dabblers,' a dark hooded minister says.

'I like DH's ideas of having an incentive for staying accept all,' Cumference says.

'Costing xp isn't an incentive to stay acceet all, its one to make no one want to go that way,' Sandra says.

A dark hooded minister says, 'I think you've done a perfect job of making it work well for the rpers and dabblers.'

Cumference says, 'Yeah kaige told me it would put the non-accept alls to a disadv ....'

'But I think you should explore ways of making accept all worth it for one thing, maybe reducing the dangers or increasing the benefits,' a dark hooded minister says.

Kaizen says warmly, 'I think that suggestions ARE being considered...look at the appends on the discussion board.'

'As of now, accepting all is a good way to be a constant target while you can never find one, which is not how its supposed to work, or at least I can't believe it is,' a dark hooded minister says.

A dark hooded minister says, 'Ideas are not being considered.'

A dark hooded minister says, 'I took an hour to write the post with my alt asmodean about pkok and a suggestion to fix it.'

LadyAce says to a dark hooded minister, 'I think it's more likely that we haven't gotten to all the things we have yet to do.'

'Well,' A dark hooded minister says, 'Huginn, as you may or may not know, is a good friend of mine.'

A dark hooded minister says, 'He told me there is no chance of that stuff being changed.'

'So...I get the impression the imm staff doesn't care or thinks its fine,' a dark hooded minister says.

A colorful buccaneer says, 'Personally, I would feel a lot better if we just got a notice saying that the imms are actually working on our suggestions, instead of having to wait until the code update to find out.'

LadyAce says, 'I don't think we've discussed it at all, so I rather doubt that that's a correct assumption, Craven.'

Sandra says, 'Well, I'd like a notice saying that the players are actually attempting to use pkok instead of bitch about it first ;).'

'The whole idea of the discussion board is to offer ideas and hear YOUR opinions or ideas to change them,' a dark hooded minister says.

Kaige says, 'So what do you guys think of being able to tell who all is currently accepting all challenges? .'

Drako has very little desire to play LegendMUD after gradual stats, pkok, and hit/dam stat equivalency. Only the addiction keeps him here... One more strange twist and he'll be lost.

'We generally do tell the player who suggested it,' LadyAce says to a colorful buccaneer.

'I think its bad kaige,' a dark hooded minister says.

A dark hooded minister says, 'As it stands, accepting all is painting a huge red target on your head.'

'But I read about lotsa ideas,' a colorful buccaneer says to you. 'No way to tell which ones are being worked on if you don't tell all of us.'

A dark hooded minister says, 'Everyone can attack you and KNOW your pk, you can't attack anyone and never know who's pk.'

'Like being a knight, in the old system?' Fee says, bouncing around excitedly, to a dark hooded minister.

Kaige says, 'But then we'd ahve to change the name since it wouldn't be ALL.'

'Can someone refresh my memory?' Drako says. 'What were the complaints with the old system?'

'But pkill is so fluid now it doesn't matter,' a dark hooded minister says.

'Pretty much the players in it,' Kaige says to Drako.

'Who's pkall today probably isn't tomorrow,' a dark hooded minister says.

'Hrm...why was pkok installed for again?' Cumference says. ':P *blush*.'

'I think that most that are accept all have been and will be,' Sandra says.

'My brother tried pkok and was killed ld by someone who accepted only him and was looted,' a dark hooded minister says. 'I'd rather not suffer the same fate.'

Kaige says to Drako, 'A lot of players didn't want to get into it because they didn't like the play style of some of the people already pkenabled.'

'I think pkclan need to accept other pkclans, that would get a circle of pk going,' a dark hooded minister says.

Sandra says to a dark hooded minister, 'I've tried to get other clans to accept each other as my alts, and they seem uninterested, so...'

Sandra says, 'If they just accept other clans its no different than before, really.'

'How bout getting un-pkok'd?' Drako says. 'Is that being considered?'

LadyAce says to Drako, 'Sure, as a penalty.'

Jesus says to Drako, 'There's no point in that.'

Kaige says, 'We can always increase the timers.'

'Just type reject all,' a dark hooded minister says to Drako.

Drako says to LadyAce, 'Cool, what do i have to do to get in trouble?'

'Getting in trouble intentionally is more likely to get you deleted instead,' LadyAce says to Drako.

'First of all, I don't think timers should count down in houses,' a dark hooded minister says.

A dark hooded minister says, 'I think, if it were possible, you should get a timer on EACH person in your accept list.'

A dark hooded minister says, 'Just because I fought sandra 2 weeks ago and then I fought jesus today, I should be able to reject sandra now.'

Jesus says to a dark hooded minister, 'That'd be nice.'

LadyAce says to Drako, 'There's no reason to get rid of your pk status, it confers 0 benefits (or at least, it will stop conferring any within 2 weeks or so).'

A dark hooded minister says, 'Basicly if you need to reject people on your list, you need to be pk free for hours.'

'I think Kaige addressed that suggestion in her post after pkok went in -- it's a nice idea, but it'd be a resource hog,' Ea! says to a dark hooded minister.

'i apologize for using this color but its pretty much the only way it would get read in this spam,' Fuego Inferno says, looking crazed. 'But it looks to me like we have a system, not just PKOK that is not working... this isn't Q & A, its complain and excuse. and the complaints are well warrented.'

LadyAce says to Fuego Inferno, 'Fortunately, I can't see colors :) but I'm not sure what you are a) asking or b) suggesting.'

Xenobia says, 'Suggest something to improve it then.'

Fuego Inferno says, looking crazed, to LadyAce, 'Im 'suggesting' that we take a good hard look at our mud and what its become, and we do something about it.'

Fuego Inferno says, gibbering a little, to LadyAce, 'Cause its obvious its not working all too well.'

'What about if all the old pkers be forced to accept all? that would stop many of the complaints, I think..' Malicious says coyly.

'I havent seen a good change in a long time,' Fuego Inferno says, looking crazed, to LadyAce.

'We do take a good hard look at the mud -- every day,' Ea! says to Fuego Inferno.

Drako says to Ea!, 'Look harder.'

'If the mud in general wanted the old pk style, we'd still have it, because it's still in the code,' Jesus says to Fuego Inferno.

'Ok tell me why this won't work,' Xenobia says. 'If everyone who wants the old system put oldstyle in their title and oked everyone else with it in their title, why wouldn't it be like in the ole days?'

Jesus says, 'Blame pk clan GM's. Don't blame the code.'

Door Protection Changes 'There was a code change about 2 months ago about implenenting break door and phase door protection... now i hear rumors that it was never imped?' Fuego Inferno says insanely. 'Whats the deal on it?'

LadyAce says to Fuego Inferno, 'I think the code change went in, but no builders have made the items available.'

'The code is in, but we've not put any of the items in yet,' Sandra says.

Fuego Inferno says, gibbering a little, 'So to us its not in yet :P.'

'Unfortunately :(,' LadyAce says.

'Hell, i'll make the items :P,' Fuego Inferno says insanely.

Sandra has some of them done, but needs to work on some other things for it first.

Sandra says, 'Its more a spec, herblore code type thing.'

One MUD or Two?

'This is less a question than it is a comment: First off, I'm strickly non-pk, my brief time as pk was painful,' Fee says, full of energy and enthusiasm. 'But: current pkers seem to have many complaints as far as pkok goes... but how is it as far as pk and rp congruency, or are there basically two muds still?'

'Oldstyle and newstyle?' Xenobia says.

Drako thinks there are two muds which bleed together due to "dabblers"...

LadyAce says, 'I think there are thousands of muds made possible by pkok.'

'Well, oldstyle, there was a HUGE seperation, in my opinion, but I play far less now, and was wondering how big the seperation is now...' Fee says, full of energy and enthusiasm.

Drako misses the days when the mud was smaller, simpler, and more enjoyable.

LadyAce says to Fee, 'I think we're still dealing with some rocks in the road with pkok, but if you experiment a bit and check things out, you'll probably see the division is much smaller.'

A dark hooded minister says, 'Everyone misses the past. Change hurts. Memories tend to be distorted to what you want to remember too.'

Drako thinks all the new changes only bog down the pace of the mud - just look at the lag!

Fuego Inferno says, looking crazed, 'I miss all the oldbies that i never really got to play with.'

'You tend to remember only the good and not the bad the farther back you go,' a dark hooded minister says.

'You remember bad things that are recent more easily,' a dark hooded minister says.

'The mud is on such a fast machine, it's not the areas or the code that is the problem,' LadyAce says to Drako.

Drako says to a dark hooded minister, 'I dont remeber a period with so many damn complaints.'

'The mud is extremely unlagged,' Ea! says to Drako. 'The network connection, however, is extremely lagged.'

'Its still rejected by many, but they refuse to change it,' a dark hooded minister says.

'Bah, I remember the complains when the sidhe wells were changed,' Sandra says. 'Now that was some bitchin!'

'I just realize its here to stay and will never be changed,' a dark hooded minister says.

Drako wonders why so many large changes have to be restrictive, and not beneficial..

'I do think you haven't given anyone a bonus in A LONG time,' a dark hooded minister says.

'We'll probably be changing meditate shortly to be more mind based instead of spirit based...' Ea! says.

'Things like backstab sucking,' a dark hooded minister says. 'Meditate sucking. Headbutt being insane.'

'Someone was saying to me the other night "the imms never do anything right the first time" You guys are lucky you don't see the first time.. and historically, unless we shut the main mud down, no one wants to help on a testmud for any real evaluations,' Kaige says.

'But we're not sure just what changes we're going to make -- probably it'll end up with more stat point requirements, but they'll be closer to what most people who use meditate will already have,' Ea! says.

A dark hooded minister says to Kaige, 'I've helped many times.'

'It's always very small scale, and often the problems don't show up until it's large scale,' Kaige says to a dark hooded minister.

'I think Kaige is referring to the mud in general, and i agree with her,' Kaizen says in a friendly tone to a dark hooded minister.

'How about getting public opinion on changes before theyre implemented?' Drako says.

'That's what Q & As are for,' LadyAce says to Drako. 'And the innumerable on-chat, over-tells, discussion board posts, etc.'

Drako says to you, 'I dont think gradual stats or hit/dam stat equivalency would have gone in if people were asked. And listened to.'

'Actually, both were based on extensive player comments,' LadyAce says to Drako.

A dark hooded minister says, 'I think rudh drains enough stat points as it is for ONE word, if you have rudh, you should have meditate, in my opinion :P.'

'Hell, i'll spend all day testing for the mud,' Fuego Inferno says, gibbering a little.

'Anyway, I'm sure I don't test on the same scale you do, but I've tested a lot,' a dark hooded minister says to Kaige.

The Future of PKOK

'You may have already answered this but, is there going to be any changes made in the near future to make the old pkers happy with the new system?' Malicious says, obviously flirting.

LadyAce says to Malicious, 'I'd categorize them as being under discussion.'

'Which means nothin, basically...' Drako says to Malicious.

'Thats why ladyace is head of pr =p,' Drako says to Malicious.

'It's cuz she's a genius,' Malicious says coquettishly.

'We've been talking about various ideas, actually,' LadyAce says to Malicious. 'It's just that there's not any agreement at this point.'

'Agreement? just listen to me and everything will be fine...' Drako says to you.

LadyAce says to Drako, 'Nah.'

Malicious says, obviously flirting, 'Just so long as it's being discussed. :) thanx!'

'If you have any ideas, toss them on the discussion board, that's where I've been reading for stuff,' LadyAce says to Malicious.

'Here's my take on pkok,' Jesus says. 'We have alot of new people testing it out, seeing how they like it, they need to build up alot of confidence before they are ready to take on veteran pk'ers.'

'I think one of the main problems with pkok is that we shouldn't have put it in a week before LadyAce and I bought a house -- I know the code better than Huginn and Kaige and so forth, but they're getting stuck doing a lot of the debuggiing I should have been doing,' Ea! says. 'A lot of this is my fault.'

'Nah,' a dark hooded minister says. 'Its all volunteer. You shouldn't HAVE to spend 30 hours a week here to keep it running smooth. The fact that you do and that we die without you makes this that much sadder. Maybe too much relies on you.'

Ea! says to a dark hooded minister, 'Sure -- but I should have waited for another couple of months before installing it. .'

'I'd apply to be a coder but I'd get rejected by kaige :),' a dark hooded minister says.

'Way too much relies on Ea!' Jesus says. 'IMO.'

Ea! says to a dark hooded minister, 'Well, maybe, but if Rufus had vanished a week after housing had gone in, we'd be similarly in trouble. PKOK was my project.'

'Hey, give me five multicolor coupons, and ill agree with *everything* the imms decide...' Drako says.

'As for too much relying on me, the main thing that relies on me is the bug sorting and the code updates -- and I'll be better about those again,' Ea! says.

Quests and Quest XP

'Fighting is the only way to gain xp,' Drako says. 'Why are quests worth so little xp?'

'Quests are worth more than killing a mob,' Sandra says.

Jesus says to Drako, 'Try doing the quests at higher levels.'

Drako says to Sandra, 'Yeah, but you can kill many mobs in the long time it takes to figure out a quest.'

Drako says, 'Theres little incentive to figure them out.'

A mermaid trapped in human form says with a faraway look, 'Especially if you figure it out yourself.'

Sandra says, 'Then put in that whatever quest needs more hints, we'll do that and stuff ;).'

'Obviously if you know the quests, or use andara, you can do them quick, but not if you wanna do them yerself,' Drako says.

'Almost all quests need more hints,' a dark hooded minister says.

'The new quests especially are rather vague,' Drako says.

'Very,' a dark hooded minister says.

'Pittsburgh's quests are so blatantly obvious, that its hilarious,' Sandra says.

A mermaid trapped in human form still hasn't figured out any pitts quests.

'You figured out like 10 of my quests in the first day,' LadyAce says to a dark hooded minister. 'Don't *tell* me they're hard.'

Adding New Areas

'I don't like the fact that crusades is such a chore to get into :P,' a dark hooded minister says.

'Why did you make crusades out in bumblef**k?' Fuego Inferno says insanely to LadyAce.

'I wish there would be more time spent refining the broken aspects of the mud and less time adding new complications...' Drako says.

LadyAce says to a dark hooded minister, 'I originally had it where people can just walk in, but my reviewers didn't like it being so easy, and it makes sense.'

Housing Costs

A dark hooded minister says, 'Was my idea for housing and renting some items for free ever considered?'

'I think people have enough junk in their houses and don't need more,' Kaige says.

Ea! says, 'It was considered, but it was decided against... we actually had that discussion for the first time before housing was installed.'

'Well by letting you rent stuff for free, it'd be more geared toward RP'er as it is now, it's geared more toward achievers,' Kaige says.

'For the record, my idea was you got free rent for how much you paid every day,' a dark hooded minister says.

Kaizen says warmly, 'I think that's a good thing to think about too. Like what if you build a house and discover there are no rentable rooms? That kinda sucks and that's like 200k down the drain.'

'I'd like to make it so that housing costs were much more mortgage-like: rooms cost a lot, but once you pay it all, the upkeep is a lot cheaper,' Ea! says.

LadyAce says to Ea!, 'Like after 100 payments or so.'

A dark hooded minister says, 'I think you should be able to buy a house for a million, and maybe just pay taxes every april 15th mud day :).'

'That said, it'd take fixing the mud's economy first,' Ea! says. 'Which is why we haven't done it.'

A dark hooded minister says, 'Maybe your house could deteriorate if you didn't pay maintenence.'

'100 would put things essentially to a 50% down, 50% in payments...' LadyAce says to Ea!.

A dark hooded minister says, 'And an economy will never work in legend. I can't see it working. Players aren't going to be buying it, which is what makes an economy, buying and selling, not just selling.'

'Actually, give us an option of how to pay,' Jesus says. 'All at once with taxes, half down with rent, etc..'
