Perhaps there could be a coupon or something that could make an item
survive a DT, an overrent situation, etc.
Imms, is this a possibility?

Right now, if you fail a save, the mud WIPES the object list in your
player file. We discussed (but have no date or other info for you)
a method to make strings save no matter what, providing they are in
use at the time of the loss. But as for saving selected items in
your inventory, that would require a major change in how the mud
deals with items, rent, etc.
