A new hide idea:
How about making people hide in specific areas instead of just a general
'hidden' status? For example:
Tara woods- one of the rooms has two places to hide.
-On top of a tree
-Behind a tree
The top of tree takes time to climb up and down, so doing a sneak attack
may be difficult. You can see whats going on in the room, but you cannot d
o anything immediately because it'll lag you a few combat ticks in order
to climb down the tree. Maybe how quietly you climb down can be based on
dex, mind or spr (?), and the ability to hear or see them coming down can
be based on perc or something.
Behind the tree, you can't see whats going on, but you can take a glance
at the room every so often. If the opponent has good perc they'll be able
to notice these glances.
Of course, all of these commands should have a skill lag so people can't
just spam type everything.
Hunting will still work, but the trail ends in the room which they are
hiding in.
Just an idea that I whipped out...this idea would eliminate the need for
detect hidden, but still give everyone a chance to find them...
Comments on this idea?

Actually, it's a huge coincidence because I talked with Ea about the same
thing, having not seen this post until just now -- and he liked the idea :
er :) -- I'm not sure about making it an actual requirement, but it would
be a fun option to work in somehow.

Here's a suggestion for the hide skill, but NOT the hide spell: allow
the character to use certain other skills without breadking the hide.
I suggest sneak, steal, con, and case as a good start. This would give
the people with the skill some advantage over a mage who just spent 10
mana.
