I'm curious as to why it appears to be the default that mobs
see invis & sneaking. My typical fight: attempt snipe/flee
sneak a heap of times until it works, pretype move/backstab
the mob attacks b4 i can backstab, flee then sneak and try
again. (I sneak so i land 1/5 backstabs rather than 1/10)
On other MUDs, mobs hunt by default, only a small percentage
sees invis, it's always possible to sneak past them, they
can't initiate while blind, you can actually make use of
hide to avoid hunting mobs and can usually rest or sleep
while doing so.
Are mobs staying as they are or what?

Sucks don't it? This has to be a throwback from the days
when there were only dex chars and we could kill anything.
Of course some mobs should see invis, and a small few
should detect sneak, mainly just where it would screw up
quests if the mobs couldnt detect sneak or invis. Ie make it
too easy. I also think mobs should hunt by default, from
what ive heard from imms though, they don't want to do this
because you could make the mob go where you wanted to fight
them. Lead lion into town etc. One note, guess thats why
zones arent so bad, though zones in general are annoying.
The solution I think is give the mobs a sort of limited hunt.
A sort of aggressive wander. The main thing this would do is
make ppl not be able to heal in the room next to the mobs.
What would happen if mobs where given level 1 30 perc hunt?
Or could it be made so that the could only hunt very fresh
trails? I think Ma has something here, a few changes would
really help with playability.

This is indeed a code holdover from a time when we had only
one flag that let a mob see in the dark - this flag also let the
mob see invis, see sneaking chars, see hiding chars, etc. Builders now
have separate flags for each of these (and at least the seedark flag is
needed so mobs can perform actions with targets at night). During the
process of updating old areas to new code this should be changing (I
changed my areas some time ago). If there are particular mobs that you thi
think see invis who perhaps shouldn't, talk to the builder involved
or drop them a note.
n.b. many mobs see invis and or sneaking chars on purpose, i.e. guards,
magical creatures, etc., so a builder may have them doing this on purpose.
