How I Give Warnings

Hi folks,

I've seen some posts and chats about unfair distribution of warnings, in particular the kind given out for language on channels. I thought it might be a good time to let people know how I personally decide when to warn and when not to warn. As far as I know, the procedure I follow is the same as the admins, but I can't presume to speak for them.

I've said it many times before: I only warn for what I see. That means while I will talk to players about issues brought up in online logs, I will not warn for them. This is NOT because I think that people might fake them, but rather because I am not in the business of sifting through evidence that I cannot independently verify. I take harassment complaints fairly often, and I first act on them by talking to the players involved. I tell them to stay away from each other, leave each other alone, etc. And if the harassment continues, I pop in invis and catch the person at it. The same goes for cursing. If people complain, I will look into it. If I see it, I will warn for it.

If you have questions about how we make our decisions, please don't hesitate to ask. While we cannot give you the specific details, we're more than happy to share the method.
