Hi. Most of you have never seen me before, or maybe glanced my
name on the who list. Thats because i'm a new character, but not
at all a new player, so please don't throw my words away as trash.
While working today, I sorta had an idea. With powerleveling gone,
which isn't really a big loss, it is REALLY hard to level mages
still if you want good spelllevels. I propose this idea, though
it is no where near the possibilitys that could be obtained with
it. I propose that newbies, mage or all, or maybe just agrabah
born, heal mana at a faster rate. Currently, a low level mage
without many mind or spirit boosts can gain 10-20 mana while sleeping
a tick, sometimes less, rarely more. I propose that they gain 40-50
while sleeping, maybe even more. The mages top asset is mana, and
currently there ARE low level damage spells, but they cost so much
to a newbie mage that its not worth it. The cheapest damage spell
-I- know of is about 15 mana. Not counting fails, at say level 5
with maybe 130 mana, you can cast it 8 times? Correct my math, I'm
just doing it in my head. Thats not bad, not really. The problem
is it will take that same newbie 5-10 minutes to heal back those
8 spells, and as I said before, without failures. Fighting mobs
there own levels, it can sometimes take 2-4 of these spells to kill
a mob worth 200 exp, respectivly. Personally, I don't think its
very fair. I can take my newbie sniper, and with a simple upgraded
weapon, something minor even, i can backstab things to dead or near
dead and lose hardly any hp. I rarely have to rest and i gain xp
extremely fast. Now, mage ARE supposed to be more challenging, but
i feel at the current state, its TOO hard. If -I- were to make a
mage at this point, he/she would definatly start out with high
fighting stats, not mage stats. I feel this mud is striving towards
mage reliance on spells, but is currently far from its mark. Something
like this would drasticly help it, and maybe make mages a bit more
fun to play at low levels. I play for about a year before I made
a mage, simply because I didn't have the friends to powerlevel me
and didn't have the time/patience to SLOWLY get xp. Like I said,
this idea could definatly use alot of improvements, but I feel I
have displayed the main point/message correctly. Mana regain at
low levels would help the low level mage population drasticly, and
in a time of drastic changes to strive for balance, -I- feel this
would be a perfect change for the better. It appears as though
I've rambled for awhile, so append and flame away at will. :)

Regen rates in general and across the board are a bit too low, and
I'm personally not the only imm that feels this way. Ea! and I have
discussed a couple of options but have left it for a while to work
on other things. We'll resume discussion on it. I don't think it's
generally a 'newbie' problem, though it surfaces most there.
