Very trivial question

Since this board has been quiet for a while, I want to ask an very trivial question which has intrigued me for a long time.

Why is it that when you try to write an askterisk on most boards, it comes out as a dash instead, yet two rooms east of here, on the player relations meeting room board, an asterisk comes out as an asterisk?

And if it comes out as an asterisk there, is it not possible to do the same elsewhere?

Why is it so?????

the asterix is used internally in the board files on the disk, and it used to cause the mud to crash sometimes because of that so the board code was changed to disallow asterixes.

Someone else would have to address the PR board issue :)

The asterkisk fairy at this board was needlessly killed one day.
