Hi my name is Fortuna, and you might know me from the latest PK tourney. Today, I am here to talk about something different but equally important. I would like to discuss the times when developed characters choose to restart from level one maybe change their hometown, but still keep the name and RP and what not. Just so they don't get say |1BORED |2BORED |3BORED |4BORED |5BORED |6BORED |7BORED |8BORED |9BORED |10BORED |11BORED |12BORED |13BORED |14BORED |15BORED being the same. My concern is about the strings one has collected over Um, that's an alias that went off, ignore it. The word was bored. But the point is, when you remake, I think its important to be able to preserve the strings or at least the coupons one used to string himself, because we all know that strings can make a good RP just that much better. So I think if you are not simply making a new character but just remaking the same character to be a little different stat wise, it should be allowed to maintain the strings one keeps. I personally have a few alts on which I have spent over 6 coupons to string including multi-colours, I don't want to make completely new characters but maybe remake with my old names, but the fact that I will lose my hard earned coupons (you all know that they are VERY hard to get) stops me from doing so, so I ask that a character be allowed to pass his strings down to his remake of the same character, maybe with the aid of an immortal, but please I think this is very important. And this also might be red, about which I am sorry. |U6

From: Chocorua Thursday, November 20 2003, 07:53AM Strings belong to the character and can be given away to other people but when you remake that character those strings are considered to belong to another character. One that you spent the time collecting them with. Choosing to remake has some consequences and losing your equipment and strings is one of them. Being able to work with a single character long enough to collect and keep strings is one of the many challenges that legend has. Some people judge success on levels gained or pk battles won or on number of coupons obtained. The immortal staff has decided (years ago) that those achievements should not be shared between your characters. Coupons and strings are hard to get admittedly. There are a lot of people out there who have a very hard time getting them and perhaps instead of wanting to keep them you could make their gaming experience better by sharing your strings with them when you grow tired of a character. Strings are items and are covered under the rules that keep equipment to one character per player. Equipment swapping is illegal and even though these items (strings) bring no in-game benefit to the new character it would be unfair to other new/low level characters to allow seasoned characters to pass down their strings. From: Fortuna Thursday, November 20 2003, 02:17PM I understand where you are coming from but it is a single case that concerns me here more than anything. It is the case where you keep your name and keep your RP but simply start over, not create a a completely new character. The reason it is specifically hard in this case is because your strings, if you make the strings relevant to you your character it is almost pointless to get new coupons and make the same old strings you had before, I personally have some very well-suited strings that go well with some of my characters that I would not replace with anything else. Now I know you will probably suggest making a new character instead of restarting then... But I know some people (especially me) do not like to have over 3 or 4 (maybe even less) characters. So wanting to restart would be a way of being less bored, maybe exploring new skills and levels (and the imms want that). But the strings would allow the person to continue with the RP they had. My request is not talking about items, completely new characters, but just to people looking to be set to reload bow quiver level 1 and level up again, maybe from a different hometown. Try to see the difference in this request, because you might have misunderstood. Fortuna 2 read board 18 2 |U6

From: Vyper Thursday, November 20 2003, 02:46PM another case of the rigid and inflexable game setup here that is not changed for no other reason than the immort feelings of "we like it the way it is and are not open to change" get used to it, its one of the things that never changes around here. it would be very simple to create a function, accessable from the menu once you have logged in that, when chosen would give you a few questions: 1) what would you like your new hometown to be? 2) please re-pick your stat order? 3) are you sure you want to reset your char to level 1? if they answer all 3, including answering "yes" to the 3rd question, the current char is reset to level 1, zero xp, zero skills, 5 pracs, the new starting home town and base stats, and logged in with all the gear that the previous 50 char had. or course you would be over rent -- on 2nd thought, scratch that, you get none of the gear but all the strings auto-zipped to zips (brings up another thought, ill make a new post). what would this hurt? nothing would the players like this? yes would it cause trouble for admins? no would it be a bit of coding? yes, but not a huge amount imo also, this might be something that requires a redeem points, so 50 mil xp, that's fair i think. |U6

From: Yery Saturday, November 22 2003, 06:21AM Having such options would be a bad idea. Since it would be pretty much multiplaying under Legend's rules. I think the way we have it setup right now is fine as it is. |U6
