I have to say first off, this prolly will be ramblings since I
never plan anything out before I write it.. seems to go better that
way.
So I log on today to hear of this review.. I go check it out.. and
figure its horrid with all this bad hype im hearing. When actually,
it made a lot of sense to me... and other players that prolly wont
even bother to post or respond. After playing a mud so long, some
just tend to see things that way just because of the long years played.
They see the same hometowns, nothing that new on skills/spells.. more
and more rumors of skill trees.. minor tweaks here and there that
occasionly brings some fun to exploit overpowered things. Then everything
goes back to the way it was.. except these days we do tend to see a lot
less immortal fun with morts. Be it games, rp plots, pk tourneys, or just
a fun sit around chat.. it all seems faded compared to the first few
years here. With the new strickness on rules, we now feel imms are
"corrupted" in some eyes.. or just eager to hand out things.. where as
before you actually sat and talked to an imm over something.. worked it out
out.. or didnt.. but atleast instead of seeing.. poof your warned.. you
sat down and had a civil, key there, talk with an imm about what went down.
Also, the point on becoming an immortal here.. i think anyone willing
and knowingly what comes with the job, yes JOB, of being an immortal
should see a fair chance. But, and i know this personally, it always comes
down to who you know and how much of a goody goody you have been. Then to
top things off, we usually imm ppl who either strange circumstances come along
along and they cant continue work.. hmmmm.. or they lose interest and
go inactive. I could never understand how we can imm players who arent
completely devoted to wanting to do something for the mud, hence becoming
an imm in the first place.
As for the atmosphere in general, yeah it does help to be known in order
to get far on the mud. Or atleast make a new char with a friend or 2 just
so you can level at a decent pace. Its always nice to see ppl sitting at
inns.. watching lowbies die to low mobs.. and doing nothing but say..
"con things first". The old sayin goes a long way.. when you can teach a
man to fish...
