I've noticed quite a bit of ranting about no warning and no pracs for the new skills. Well you could take the imm approach of 'live with it' or they could do something to remedy it. increase practices per level to 3 pracs every 2 levels, so 1.5 every level. Increase skill consumption, depending on what the skill is. eg arms training/swordsmanship/fencing will require greater knowledge so have 2 prac cost for each level, same with parry and most other fight skills. Where as things like fishing, and cooking (well for the cooking that we get at least anyway) 1 practice cost to learn, as they are not very complex things to memorise. Also flavor, thats flavoring a food/water source with a herb. So REALLY you should only be able to flavor a raw food item, and gain the benifit when cooked. I mean if I am eating a steak, would I season it before its cooked, so it soaks up the flavor, or season it after its cooked, so the seasoning falls off when you cut it? Words: If you are changing the skill system, then the word system should be modified also. Since there will be more practises available, then increase second circle (the medium power) to 3 pracs and third (high power, so really shouldn't they cost more to get than med power words?) to 2 pracs per word. This shouldn't change things too much for mages, as they will spend more on some words, but gain more pracs and spend more on skills but gain more pracs also. Again should not effect other casts too much either. |U6

From: Akai_Hayate Saturday, July 12 2003, 05:27PM Wouldn't increasing the amount of pracs skills consume way out stretch the amount extra you propose giving? I mean my math is bad and I didn't even even try to use what little I know for this post but seems to me we would end up with less skills than we have now. |U6
