alignment driven skills.|U6

This kinda disturbs me. I learned an Alignment based skill today, only to find out I don't have the correct alignment to use it. I won't try to lobby to get my practice back, but I do want to make my point. ALL skills are stat driven, if you don't have said stats for said skill, you simply can't learn said skill. I don't see how alignment based skills, even though they remain stat based, can be learned at the incorrect alignment. It seems about the same as letting a London Sniper learn Agni. Sure, once he messes up and does it once, he'll know not to make the same mistake. But then, I thought the idea was to prevent crossplay, not promote it. To sum it all up, I don't think a Legend newbie should have to make the same mistake I made. I think the skills in allskills should be a list of what you can actually do. |U6

From: Kaige Saturday, March 08 2003, 11:40AM Would be helpful to point out on the bug channel instances like this. But yes, it's something that can and should be done. -Kaige |U6

From: Mavado Saturday, March 08 2003, 01:58PM It's not a bug to my knowledge. After talking to Snapper about it, it's exactly the way it's suppose to be. |U6

From: Kaige Saturday, March 08 2003, 02:14PM It's a bug in that the only way we can check for things like that is in the teaching acts and it's not part of the skill definitition in the code that the qualifies-for-skill check, checks, so it has to be done by hand by the builder writing the teaching acts. I asked you to bug it, because it is something that makes sense and will prevent some future frustration on someone's part because they "wasted a practice on a skill they can't use." -Kaige |U6
