To all imm staff, How many illusions in an area/room does it have to be before it is considered spam. I would be very much appreciative if I got some form of number down, as every imm that i have asked have in some way diverted the answer to things like 'well it depends on where you are, like a busy place, or your house etc' and other answers on simmilar lines. All i am after is a number so i dont get warnings when i create the illusions. say line length Otherwise I shall assume there is none or its really high, and make as many and as big illusions as i wish, until either some char dispells because they are sick of it, or until i run out of mana. From: Rush Friday, January 24 2003, 07:58AM Try considering the fact that you share the mud with a lot of other people, and acting accordingly. If the illusions are of interest to no one but yourself, put them in your house. Don't run around cluttering up the place just because there is no specific rule against it. Rush |U6

From: LadyAce Friday, January 24 2003, 09:07PM I think Rush has her finger on it -- it's not the sort of thing that has a hard and fast rule, because then people will go right up to the edge but not over it. Large, well-done illusions have sometimes been left up for days. It's a matter of the number of complaints versus 'hey, that's neat!' type feedback we get. If people like the joke or appreciate the RP, that's one thing....if everyone is telling us "ugh, get rid of it..." -- then it's a problem. Use common sense and respect when you share your illusioning talents with others, and you're unlikely to have them removed. Avoid profanity or other language violations and you're unlikely to get warned. Persist in doing things that annoy other people, despite frequent requests to cut it out .... that's the sort of thing that takes you down the warnings trail. Warnings and rules on Legend are not analagous to real-life laws and criminal records -- we can't always spell out the precise violations and the precise repercussions of those violations. We're trying to maintain a community, as Rush said. Be good to each other, act with respect, and you'll rarely even hear from the rules and warnings department. -LA |U6

From: Berek Monday, January 27 2003, 09:05PM On this topic of illusions, and this may have changed since I last did a big illusion project, so forgive me if it has. Does anyone else find it annoying when you spend god knows how much (over 1000 usually) to make a cool illusion, and some taran or kleinian comes and spends uh what is it, 35 mana? To remove the whole thing? Now if you do something annoying and there are tons of complaints I would have no problem with the imms removing an illusion, but most of the time it is something cool (cool at least the first few times you move through it :P) and the person removing it is some grumpy jerk who likes messing with other people for absolutely no reason. So err, just wondering if we could tie dispel in with accept/reject so people can't just come up and screw up yer cabbage patch. And uh, couldn't you also run around fraging peoples dopps with dispel? So err, yeah! There is also a certain robe that happens to be on my character that certain people like to poof with dispel just to be annoying. I mean what if uh..TerrorSpawn comes back to do an illusion and Some jerk like Agaz or someone happens to be flaunting his dispel powers, we'd all miss out on something cool. Anyways I didn't mean to rant about something so trivial... --Tritoch. |U6
