Over the past year, I've seen some bellyaching from people in both the PK
and nonPK camps. PKers complain that because of PKOK, they don't have the
power to jump whoever they want whenever they want, and so it's not real
PK. Conversely, RPers have a problem with things like silly charnames that
can be disruptive to RP.
I think what it comes down to is, Legend is a mud for mixing things up --
a mud for dabbling. You can see it in the "classless" system where you can
mix and match abilities to your liking, and you can see it in the mud's
environment. If you are a bigtime RPer who likes a little PK, or a major
PKer who likes a little RP, or if you like them evenly balanced, Legend is
a great place for you. But if you lean too far to one hardcore extreme,
you will probably be disappointed here. Legend offers a little of
everything, and in so doing it can't possibly satisfy the most extreme
desires of either hardcore PKers or hardcore RPers. And there's nothing
wrong with that; it's why I enjoy it here.
If you are a hardcore PKer, there are muds where you can go where you're
enabled at level 1, and within seconds someone will show up to kill and
loot you. If you're a hardcore RPer there are muds and mushes with strict
name approval where if you break character for even 5 seconds, you'll be
sitebanned. Legend is somewhere in the middle, and the players who will
enjoy themselves most here are those that are also somewhere in the
middle. I'm not saying we shouldn't have debates about stuff like PKOK and
awful character names, I just thought I'd offer some perspective.

Personally, I think everyone needs to chill out
There are those that have ideas
There are those that wish to express their opposing opinion
There are those that wish to bully others into joining their opinion
There are those that wish to bully others who are expressing
their opposing opinion
There are those that wish to bully those who bully those
who are expressing their opposing opinion
Everyone.. err.. Individuals in the playerbase are so afraid of
losing "their" LegendMUD that they forget this is actually
"Kaige's LegendMUD"
While Kaige is probably a very open and benelovent
(if that's the right word) in allowing everyone's thoughts
and ideas to be heard and a fair chance, this is very much -not-
anything public or subject to democracy.
In my opinion, the reason we are all here is the same reason
people create art. For the creator to view the pleasure of those that
experience their creations.
For those of you who contact Kaige with positive (or intelligent but oppos
opposing or negative) views and comments, I'm sure she glows with
pride at your interest in what is hers. Infact
I'm pretty sure most of the Immortals take great
care and pride with the mud. It's not just
their playground, but their art.
They receive no compensation from this other than a warm
fuzzy feeling inside from seeing a peak playerbase login.
This is long...

btw, if I am wrong in any of my opinionated facts
about the Immortal process, please set me straight
Incidentally, I am not an Immortal and probably never will be
due to the lack of time I would be able to spend
being an Immortal.. I feel I wouldn't be giving my worth.

Yes, I love legend mud for its tolerance of diversity.
Some other muds are too restricting, no freedom of character.
Thank you Kage and legend mud!
