Could somebody clarify whether it is possible to get strings back
from DTs or not while the code is still buggy?
When the notice was posted about the code being buggy, I assumed it
meant there was no reimbursement because everyone had been warned. But
apparently it is possible to ask an immortal to recover the strings. If
this is so I think it should be explained clearly,as it is wrong that some
people might lose their strings just because they don't realise they can
ask for them back

It is indeed buggy, and you should indeed ask for an imm to grab your
strings out of the DT.
