I, for one, have had enough of it. I can't accept that. If this happened to 99% of the countries on the planet Earth, you bet your sweet ass America would be there in the effort to save lives. I don't care if you think my country sucks. I don't care if you think me, or my fellow Americans deserve to die such a horrible death. Normally, I can deal with these opinions, even though I don't agree with them. However, the next few weeks are going to be rough on Americans, and I'd like to ask that the staff of LegendMUD take this into account and stop these senseless comments that are only made to irritate an already very emotional situation. You are the only people here that have the power to do such.

So even Americans express views, which at least in this situation - express views, that in my opinion are odd, to put it mildly. I am not making all Americans responsible for what a few of them have said, so I don't think you should blame all non-Americans for what a few of them have said.
That being said, I would once again like to express my deeply felt sorrow about what has happened and my utter compassion with all the thousands of innocent victims and their families.

America : The Good Neighbour
Widespread but only partial news coverage was given recently to a remarkable editorial broadcast from Toronto by Gordon Sinclair, a Canadian television commentator. What follows is the full text of his trenchant remarks as printed in the Congressional Record:
"This Canadian thinks it is time to speak up for the Americans as the most generous and possibly the least appreciated people on all the earth.
Germany, Japan and, to a lesser extent, Britain and Italy were lifted out of the debris of war by the Americans who poured in billions of dollars and forgave other billions in debts. None of these countries is today paying even the interest on its remaining debts to the United States.
When France was in danger of collapsing in 1956, it was the Americans who propped it up, and their reward was to be insulted and swindled on the streets of Paris.
When earthquakes hit distant cities, it is the United States that hurries in to help. This spring, 59 American communities were flattened by tornadoes. Nobody helped.
The Marshall Plan and the Truman Policy pumped billions of dollars into discouraged countries. Now newspapers in those countries are writing about the decadent, warmongering Americans.
I'd like to see just one of those countries that is gloating over the erosion of the United States dollar build its own airplane. Does any other country in the world have a plane to equal the Boeing Jumbo Jet, the Lockheed Tri-Star, or the Douglas DC10? If so, why don't they fly them? Why do all the International lines except Russia fly American Planes?
Why does no other land on earth even consider putting a man or woman on the moon? You talk about Japanese technocracy, and you get radios. You ta talk about German technocracy, and you get automobiles. You talk about American technocracy, and you find men on the moon - not once, but several times - and safely home again.
You talk about scandals, and the Americans put theirs right in the store window for everybody to look at. Even their draft-dodgers are not pursued and hounded. They are here on our streets, and most of them, unle unless they are breaking Canadian laws, are getting American dollars from ma and pa at home to spend here.
When the railways of France, Germany and India were breaking down through age, it was the Americans who rebuilt them. When the Pennsylvania Railroa Railroad and the New York Central went broke, nobody loaned them an old caboose. Both are still broke.
I can name you 5000 times when the Americans raced to the help of other people in trouble. Can you name me even one time when someone else raced to the Americans in trouble? I don't think there was outside help even during the San Francisco earthquake.
Our neighbors have faced it alone, and I'm one Canadian who is damned tired of hearing them get kicked around. They will come out of this thing with their flag high. And when they do, they are entitled to thumb their nose at the lands that are gloating over their present trouble troubles. I hope Canada is not one of those."

I am sorry it was so long, but I think that people need to see that as Americans, we do all we can to help, and that at least some people do realize that and are trying to point it out to the ignorant people who thi think that we deserve what happened.

Fear, about the day before or the day of this post i remember us having a LITTLE dispute. Although this happend AFTER the incident i think that that was partially why you wrote this. I have held those belifs before that incident, and i am still holding them. I HAVE spoken to MANY americans and they agree with me that there are lots of problems with america. eg, that they ONLY broadcast news that directly relates to their country. Now i am also suprised at your reaction, as i thought everyone knew my opinion, and the country that i lived in (the starting point of our little dispute) but alas i was obviously wrong.
For the record i do feel saddend at this incident, but then just think several thousand died in this in one day, but look at the car accidents! several thousand would killed in america each year. I do not know the actual results as i do not live there, but in the country i do live in with population nearing 19 mill, we have several hundred, so i would assum that you are near the thousands mark if not there. well anyway, the only reason why this is so 'great' or bad i should say is because of the time it took. THOUSANDS die from cars, THOUSANDS more from hunger and THOUSANDS from diseases eg aids. so if i do not seem THAT saddend then sorry, as the way i see it, if you worried about EVERY bad thing in the world, you would die from sorrow.
well i think that thats about enough of that.
If you do want to know my thoughts about america, just ask me i'll be happy to indulge you, and perhaps you can try and change my views. although i am going on with what you are PORTRAYING btw.

Thousands of people each year do NOT have to decide if they should burn to death or throw themselves out of the 100th floor of a building.
Thousands of people each year do NOT have to decide which relative or friend they're going to call before the plane they're on smashes into a building.
Thousands of people each year do NOT have to sit there having panic attacks or get the sweats or have their hearts race or start to cry hysterically when they hear a loud noise from a siren or someone yelling in the streets.
How dare you compare this situation with accidents! THIS WAS NOT AN ACCIDENT! This was deliberate. It was cruel and disgusting and painful for all of us who had to see it or miss someone who was lost in it or who have a little EMPATHY for those who did. I cannot tell you how furious your post made me. It makes me sick. I spend my days feeling like throwing up, crying and terrified to walk out of my door because there have been over 90 bomb scares and thousands of small emergencies in my city.
All of you with your "opinions" would do well to keep them to yourselves. This is NOT the time for it!

I have prayed by those they have left behind, seemingly in abandonment.
I hope, that my prayer and my deed as a Canadian and fellow brother to those who died in those two worldly buildings early Tuesday morn. carry them fastly and steadily to their eternal happiness. my prayers go out to all of you as well, for I pray that none of you, my close friends, and those who I do not even know on this game that you will be safe, and your families will be safe in this, a great time of tragedy. this was not just an Attack on America, as the news has said. This was an attack on the civilized world as we know it.
Whether you be black white brown or green. Our Unification and strength will provide us with the greatest weapon we need to defeat these people who would dare to threaten our peaceful world. So to you, my brothers and sisters, if not through blood, but through position, I grieve with the but hold thy head high. Please, join me.

I did not mean it like that, i was just saying that YES it is a tradedy for all conserned. I was merely apologising to fear as i thought i contributed to this post. And if i do sound not as sympathatic as you think i should that that was the reasons why.
Yes it was delibrate, yes they cant call their family, as either they alre know about it (in cases of dieses), or that it is happining too fast for them to do anything about it (car accidents are another example)
As i have already said i did not mean to upset you, or anyone else, as it was designed to be a sorry post to fear.

I went to church this morning for the first time in 20 years (apart from weddings/funerals).
One of the things we prayed for was that revenge doesn't figure into the response, and that world leaders exercise restraint and discernment in their response. Although this war hasn't really started yet, we also prayed for peace. (By hasn't started yet, I mean apart from the terrorist actions over the past few years.)
I was surprised to find that 20% of the congregation knew a friend of a friend who had been in New York at the time. I don't live in a suburb full of stockbrokers or rich retirees who travel a lot, I live in an area with a lot of average working class people, in the small city of Adelaide. If any of you think this event hasn't touched your corner of the world, I'd suggest you think again.
Another thing we prayed for was that Muslims in our community don't suffer attacks as a result of this. Many of these people came to Australia to escape the fundamentalist sect that perpetrated these acts. No doubt the same is true in the US, and in other parts of the world.

That said, I want to thank those non-American players who have been exactly the opposite: warm-hearted and concerned. One person from abroad even sent me mudmail to make sure I wasn't on one of the planes out of Boston. Most of you have been really great, and you've shown me how truly valuable it is to have friends around the world.
