Let's face it... nobody needs this mud to be balanced, period. I'm sure some people would prefer to have a balanced mud where in the end every pk fight can be said the outcome was due to skill and some luck, not some overpowered systemic flaw. Although I wouldn't be so certain that there currently exists a chartype t that allows newbies to win even against the most experienced oldbie pkers, but there certainly are types that are more competent than others, esp whe n pitted against chars that the system currently doesn't favor. But so what? A balanced mud will be newbie friendly in that any choice a newbie makes cannot be a 'wrong' one if they want their very first char to be pk-competitive. But with pkok, who cares? You can choose only to accept chars that your char is competitive against, so there's no disadvantage a newbie pk wannabee suffers from having a chartype that isn't as competitive. Only thing is that for players like me, who would want a lot of people to be enabled and looking for pk, it helps to have a balanced system since that would mean more pkenabled chars... or so we hope. Truth is, that isn't quite the case. Sure pk was outta whack back in dexm but did that mean that there was lack of pk? Or was pk boring? The way i remember, i dragged around a highly unfit char for pk, lost more than i've won, and there were heaps of other players with unfit chars that pk'd and were somewhat 'thrilled' at being enabled. It isn't the code that kil led pk, and we all probably know it. Of course, code can't fix all our pr problems either. So why isn't pk fun anymore? The environment? No, the atmosphere isn't n nearly half as bad as it used to be with doppel get all corpse and dispel illusion. But ppl still don't want to pk. For one, the playerbase has changed. No longer do we have folks who are 'into' the game so much that they mingle ooc and ic conflicts. I no longer care to persuade anyone or convince them, i merely gag them and hunt them down if they are enabled. Some simply log in, go ooc/oow and no longer participate in the actual gam game. I don't even remember the last time i've grouped for exploration or xp, or just for the heck of it, even. I'm not into the game, not just pk. Where am i going with all this? Nowhere. I won't change my playing style and neither will the majority of the people in this mud. But at least i am being fairly straight. I want a balanced mud because I beli believe it'll enhance my style of play, and i don't sugercoat it to sound as if the mud's going to be a better place for everyone. Dh |U6
