This is the 12th time i have tryed to make a character, only to have the
name archived, and never played.
so i propose there be a system to delete obviously crap chars from archive
like, a level one guy with no eq and nothing special about him.
I really dont want to wait 10 years for the person who created and archive
d for later use, then quit the mud to come back and unarchive so i can
have the damn char name i want...
So like, a player asks an imm to check out an archived punk, if they say
hes level 1, naked, and has rather bad stats etc, you could petition
to have the damn thing purged, they could like, contact the players alts
and let them know, and then if theres no response in like a month
umm, byebye character. Everyone support me on this, cause my typos
gave you such amusement, admit it!

I strongly disagree. Mainly for 1 reason.. by your
rule you could lose a character that you've spent
alot of time on but decided to restart for some reason.
Let's take a known character.. hmm say Dune. Dune pkills
and accepts everyone, but things go poorly for him and
he ends up getting permaed, since he's careless or
someone just has it out for him and he's too
stubborn to know when to stop logging in. :-)
So Dune's damn upset, but remakes the character to
hold onto the name. He's annoyed enough though to
take a break from that character, archive and play
another character for awhile. But you really want to
be Dune, so you petition to have him deleted so that you can
get the name? Having the imms decide who should be able to
be archived and left alone and who should be deleted isn't
likely to happen.
Now that said, personally I wouldn't mind making the archive limit
higher, say level 10, same as perma. People that wanted to hold
onto a name but take a break would have to remember to log on
once per month with that "famous" character.

Well come on huginn, not everything has to be done by the damn letter
of the law :p yeah, if i ask ladyace to delete archived dune, she can slap
me, but if i ask her to delete someone who is and has never been played...
i think with a little common sense it would be easy to do :P and besides
dune or alts log on at least once a month to write on this board
so that would never happen :p he would be like, who is trying to steal my
name? :P then he'd whup me ;)
so in conclusion, common sense! dont delete Aginor, but dont let some jerk
keep my damn kenshin!

And acually, the level 10 archive thing is really cool
lets do that, just to avoid the 1% of the time when someone would get
screwed by my idea :P

I totally agree, one of my alts has two sisters, but they are archived, th
ey are never played and I asked an imm about this and they said unless i h
ad their passwords nothing could be done, I do not like the fact that she
has to go through life with out her sisters, its sad the way people create
characters but then never play them, I think that they should do something
about this, like say.... start haveing people give their emails that way
once in a while they can send email to that person saying,
'hey you've got a character archived' or when someone wants to have
that name they can send the email to them saying 'hey someone's
showing interest in your archived character _____, would you be
considering to give that char up to an active person? Its just an idea,
which i would really apreatiate if it happend.
