Don't get me wrong, I'm not posting this to whine, complain, or bitch.
I'm writing this as an observation.
All in all, I'm pretty happy with 2c create, but the following
spells seem quite useless. I won't post why I feel they are useless
on this board, if you'd like to know, please send a tell my way
and I'll be glad to explain.
armor of light
cure poison
dream sending
resist poison
youth
assess protection
decay
detect magic
staff of light
wave of nausea
aura sight
detect poison
shield
That's about it I guess.
While alot of these spells are nice for newbies, such as
staff of light, lets face it, we don't spend a ton of time at these
levels and therefor end up never even casting the spells
in the first place, due to stats being so demanding, we can't
really afford to lose even 5 stat points if we want to do well
in pkill. Another thing that makes me mad is create versus cause.
cause's armor is much, MUCH better, because it's simply a bonus
to ac, not something worn.
perhaps an idea to fix this would be to put create items like
shields and armor in accesory slots and let them give a bonus to AC.
perhaps even give create something similar to causes strength spell
in an acc slot. We could make them all timed and NO_GIVE/DROP to
ensure things like this don't get abused. People say that
create gets preserve. Okay, fine, preserve does absolutely NOTHING
in combat, and cause gets recall regardless, which is useful
in combat, tho expensive.
Anyway, I'm rambling, and I'm sure no one will take this
into consideration, but 2c create (as well as 3c create) needs
revamped.
Now, let me go on a tangent about walls, illusions, detects, and dispels.
IF an illusion is invis, should you be able to detect and dispel
that illusion without the use of a see invis?
well, walls are illusions, all of them, which is rediculous to begin
with, but I'll not go off on this one, yet.
Now, how do we fix this, you ask?
It's quite simple, make an invis check before a detect illusion check.
then, in turn, make dispel illusion have to specify a single target.
be that target a wall, a dopple, an major illusion, or what have you.
Now, all of the sudden, a halfmage can't laugh at the
300+ mana I've spent by spending 35 mana. (or whatever dispel illusion cos
costs)
Bah, this was just suppose to be about 2c create..

get chalice 2.pouch
drink chalice
fill chalice trough
put chalice 2.pouch
I like the AC in slot idea. Recall I dont even use recall
them scrolls are much better and I need the mana to get back from
backstabs. 2nd circle create also has roots a very nice healing
for low mind and what not. I think the armor for ac should be
3rd circle only not 2nd just cause roots and preserve can be
nasty healing, when you can augment as well :P
get chalice 2.pouch
drink chalice
fill chalice trough
put chalice 2.pouch
walls I dunno I dont use um and rarely ever see them
I gotta get rid of that trigger

I agree that some spells are not very useful or fully living up to their p
potential. However....I have to suggest that not ALL spells are intended t
to be useful to all people. Dreamsending, for example, is an excellent RP
tool. I don't think every spell needs to be useful in mobkill or pkill.
I use aura sight some with chars that have a particular alignment need
-- sometimes for their RP and sometimes for their eq.
I think we welcome ways to make underutilized spells more useful,
but it's very important to make a distinction between "I personally
don't use this spell" and "This spell isn't useful" -- and when
you think of uses, remember how many different types of players we have.

with my create alt I never use things like walls because inspire
is 60 mana cheaper and a lot harder to get out of. Thats mob
kill and pk. I realize some spells are supposed to have more
rp or personal value then combat, but some like walls I don't think
are like that :)
