This's probably a little late, but then I'm not sure what
you have planned if anything to address the prob with old eq.
What could have and still could be done if old eq was put
back in the game rather than updating playerfiles is to just
reduce the affect of hit/dam from items.
If you were to double (as an example) the amount of hit/dam
gained from stats from 23 to 46, then added the regular
hit/dam from items, like +6 from old hernes then halve the
total, you'll effectively make old eq half as good as it was.
Whether it'd still be used, I don't know but I really can't
bring myself to sacrificing stats as well as a lot of rent
for most of the hit/dam in the game now. Seems only high
mind mages and backstabbers are viable char types as it is.

I agree in part... the 23 hit from 'dex' is pretty good as is, I mean
'dex' gets an AC bonus, tumble, dodge, parry, flee, and the best damage
only skill (kick). Oh, and 'dex' gets backstab plus the ONLY weapon
in the game that casts major poison (which is unfair in and of itself).
So, the +dam from 'str' should be doubled, at least in my opinion.
Besides, +dam doesn't do much my dex/spir/mage with ONLY 26 'str' easily
decimates every other round without stunning.... bah.

I don't think you get it.. the bonus from stats would be doubled
then halved again but the stats from hit/dam eq would only be halved.
In other words, leave it as it is, only halve the hit/dam gained from
eq.. I just put forward one way it may need to be done in code as
it may not be possible to simply halve the hit/dam as its worn.
Hmm.. I should really start this thread over cos I somehow managed
to turn a 1 line suggestion into something that sounds complicated!
