Just a thought I had whilst writing a longish post...
is it code-possible to make it so you don't see what happens in the
room while you're writing? I don't know what others think but I think
this would be really helpful in making more nicely formatted posts.

What I'd really like to do is have the code have an option where you
can have it format your posts for you. Unfortunatly, it's a bit
of a pain to code it. (I tried a hackish solution a few weeks back, but
it ended up killing entire discussions when it was used on an append...
so we're stuck waiting for a non-hackish solution).
Probably the simplest and best thing that we could do is have writing
do proper word wrap rather than truncation.
I'm interested in hearing what people have to think about this, and
about the possibility of letting people hear channels while writing,
both in the current code and in the hypothetical code that does word
wrapping.

I think word wrapping isn't necessary if it would not print the line if
it's too long. That way you would get a chance to retype it without the
truncated word. Also, could you make it so we don't get hungry/thirsty
messages? (I always seem to forget to turn off my trigs)
