Advantages

I know there has been a lot of talk about giving an advantage to people wh played longer, or get to play more in general, old eq, redemption, etc. Why can't we allow advantages to older players? With PKok, if you think somebody has too much an advantage over you, you can simply reject them. With accept all, i think you can simply accept all and reject specific ppl like that... i think, anyway. As far as advantage in mobkill goes, i personally wouldn't care if my groupmate happened to be renting a few k more than i do, or even if he has better spell levels, or whatever. Actually, i'd like my groupmates to be 'dependable.' It's not as if we need significant advantages such as stats, more hps, more attacks, or anything like that. A redemption point to improve a spell level in a spell, to have more pracs (1?), to have more rent (100?) or to be allowed non-human descs... hell, who cares, i wouldn't mind somebody to trade in 10 redemption points for the ability to learn spellwords from opposing schools... would kill them in spell levels anyway. (it may not even need be 10, just have it be like 3, and getting spell levels on them to be much use would be a real quest :p) What would this accomplish? Think with this we can have people who are willing to work for xp all the time. Groups will form more easily, eq will be easier to replace, and with better chances of groups forming, more ppl will get to know each other, healers will thrive, and pk will have these "big" guys who can keep things in check... though their chars may not be overly powerful, those chars will have enough acquaintances with anyone to discourage distasteful things from happening. And with this option to play a single char forever and still see some improvement in ones char, crossplay etc will become much less of a problem, and you'll have players who are much more attached to their chars to make archivelock, deletion, warnings a lot more effective. RP will have a better chance to increase, since in my experience RPers are the ones that tend to play a single char more extensively and don't recreate chars depending on which is more 'efficient.' With the 50+ chars having a good deal of RP population, by grouping with them and talking to them will be more effective than having somebody you don't find useful rp'ing. Broekn, for example, in my opinion, had a much easier time RP'ing than some others cuz he was a healer and was included in more groups, and ppl were willing to 'put up' with it since they 'needed' him. Btw, for the redemption point ability to learn spells from another school, for it to be any significant harm, and assuming a redemption point can be used to improve the cast lvl of one spell... 1 redemption to learn the word, 1 prac to learn the word, then nearly 20 redemption points to put it into a place where it is reliable... which is like... 525mil xp past lvl 50... Guess that means I need to have 550 mil xp total to learn roots and have it be of any use :p Dh

From: Christopher Sunday, October 01 2000, 12:32PM personally I'm interested in using redemption points to move stat points around... like I have 99dex and 21 spirit.. it would be sooo nice to put that 1 spirit to my dex so I don't have to mess around with eq yanno?

From: Splat Sunday, October 01 2000, 11:39PM Some people don't like mob killing, some people just want to pk and those that do might not like it so much when others have an advantage over them in pk. Many want old eq out as it is and you want more of the same cos you enjoy endless mob killing?

From: Splat Sunday, October 01 2000, 11:44PM I'd agree on being able to move stats around though as long as your base stats don't fall below the current minimum of 16 + stat bonuses. (being 29 spirit min, 19 in others) Having to work for them by mob killing, hmm.. I'd like to see something like +3/-3 stat coupons come outa the prize machine instead. :) oh and prac point redemption too! Not for extra pracs but to fix up your screwed up chars.

From: Dune Monday, October 02 2000, 09:49AM WOW, I love that idea about that prize machine stat coupons. And I dont mind having people way more powerful than me cause they worked night and day for 2 years too amass 550 million xp. It gives all the more satisfaction when they still lose I agree that sometimes you get to a point where you just cant go anymore... if you could still advance somehow, and get a character to demigod status, it might pay... Dont think of it as characters with extra abilities... think of it as a way to just get higher level. Level 49 has an "advantage" over level 45... we can certainly give an "advantage" to some level 50s over others.. only slow the advancement pace considerably. Maybe we could start having some elders in legend that have more than a lot of hours or whois lines to boast about. Not that any of this affects me... I certainly dont have time to amass 550 million xp. Even if the extra advantages arent in game... like a name thats in color. Just something to make the elders of legend repected and venerable. Kind of like the pretitle thing, only a lot cooler.
