I suggest an eq wipe of unequaled proportions. I suggest we do this
after a solution for hp gear has been found etc. so forth. I personally
feel we should do one of 2 things:
- Erase everyones equipment. Everyone level 50 comes comes into the game
with a few weapons from either genre. Possibly start everyone with 5
coupons or something. With that in hand you go out and reequip.
- A ultimatium is made. You WILL get rid of any gear deemed "old," and
there will be no excuses. If you have a question as to whether somethin
is "old," you ask or suffer the possibility of deletion. I suggest
a 2 week grace period to reequip using new gear and after that your
first offense is a warning and removal of all old gear, 2nd offense
your deleted.
Now. These are some pretty rash answeres to a fairly simple problem. I
suggest these because all other alternatives are either too time consuming
or prone to error. While I'm positive the majority of players will balk
at the first suggestion, the 2nd I feel is justified for this reason. The
majority of pkillers, dabblers and "professionsals" alike would prefer to
get rid of their own gear and use the new stuff. Unfortunatly they feel
if they do this they will now be at a disadvantage because everyone else
still has the old stuff. If everyone were forced to get rid of all old,
it wouldn't be such a big deal. Everyone is on the same playing field and
you no longer feel that concionce thing bothering you :)
I know a lot of mobkilling type people also will balk at both ideas. The
idea of having no hitroll or damroll, at least compared to now, is a very
bad thing for them. While I agree that currently damroll and hitroll have
an incredible impact on damage and effectiveness, this would be
configurable if only everyone had the same gear. If all strength fighters
were averaging 30 damroll, then the now average with old gear of say 45
could be set to 30, so 30 damroll would do the same as 45 does now, and
the same would work with hitroll. As it stands if they did this, new
gear would be on par with current old gear, but old gear would be even
more powerful. This effectively solves nothing and your back to square
one.
So thats my idea and my post. While in reality I am going to lose
quite a bit of old gear myself, I feel it is worth it. They can't
balance a system that has so many varients that shouldn't be. The
game itself will be much more playable and much more fun if we are
all on the same plane. I thank you for reading this and hope your
thoughts are similiar to mine. To the imms, I know all of the ideas
above are quite a bit of additional work, but I think in the long
run you would actually be saving yourselfs from some of the tiny
little fixes you have to make now.

Personally, old eq doesn't bother me much as long as there are
things to be used in-game. I could care less about a str fighter with
heaps of hit and dam, since there is this resistance to slash thingie
out there now. Even without that, there are other ways to deal with
that kinda char, be it a bind with 5 saebels or whatever.
True things are not as feasible if you don't have spells to mess with,
and no arrows to dip, but there are enough areas requiring friendship
to deal with this. If you are seriously annoyed, just loot the darn
thing and junk it. Killing the guy is never a problem if you are
willing to take cheapshots... as long as you think using old eq is
an offense grave enough to derserve such.
Removing all of it and leaving zips for strings would be an annoying
task, and it'll be fairly interesting to see how ppl re-eq if everyone
is suddenly eq-less. (would take a long time, at least, to equip EVERYONE)
Rather, i'd wait for skilltrees and true balance, then simply have a
charwipe. Granted i'd lose a LOT of stuff, and it'll be annoying to
create a new char, but that's at least a 'fair' way.

I have now read and read post where a very vocal
few demand - and demand is really the right word -
an eq wipe.
I, personally, am tired of all this crying for eq
wipe -not to speak of char wipe, geez -. I don't have
time to be here 24/7 to reequip my characters from
scratch if all the eq is suddenly removed. Heck, I
hardly even have any old eq, why should I suffer just
because some people can't handle eq changes? We had
eq changes during all the more than five years Legend
has existed and we had to deal with old eq all the
time and did all survive. It's not much difference now,
old eq will finally circulate out of the game and while
it's still there, deal with it!
An eq wipe - not to speak of char wipe, I repeat - would
be a very efficient way to at least drive me away from
Legend all together.
And for those of you who have the habit to call everyone
that doesn't agree with you an idiot - and you know who
you are - to intimidate your opponents into silence, I
really couldn't care less. Maybe it's finally time even
for a member of the silent majority to raise their voice -
and I do sincerely believe I am one in this case -. I have
put a lot of time, effort and affection into my characters,
I don't want them rendered eqless for no reason -
for the majority of them who don't even have old eq
even the reasons posted here wouldn't be valid after all -
just because some people can't deal with changes. Geez,
Eretz had a cloak that was +10 dex +5 str, no minuses and
I think some +dam too, and we had to deal with it, and we
did, and we all survived.
If the pkAnd yes, I -am- angry. All talk about eq wipe and God help
us, char wipe, makes me angry, since for me it would
effectively mean forcing me away from Legend. No wonder
I get angry and mad then...
I would also be grateful if the imm staff could say something
about if those eq wipe and char wipe demands is anything that
the imm staff considers atm, because - at least to me - it will
have a vital impact on the decision how to proceed here..

I am not very vocal. For the last 3 years I have appended a maximum
of 5-10 times because I was sick of being called the idiot. I'm not
for an eq wipe as such, but this game is impossible to ever balance
with so many variables. Its not just for pk either, its the same for
mobkill or anything else. Why should old characters some some advantage
that new people don't. Ask an imm to make redemption points modify
stats or something of the such and your told its unbalancing to those
who don't get the 100 mil or whatever. The same applies here I think and
I think its bull. Noone deserves an advantage for any reason and I
think not only that it makes balance and creating here practially
a never ending job. How can you possibly balance anything with one
person continually damcapping on jim southland and another one
massacring simply because of gear? Its wrong and if you don't agree
your allowed your opinion, but damn it so am I. If I could think of
a way to get rid of all old gear in the game without inturruping your
busy schedule, I would, but I can't because of so many mistakes made
in the past. I simply want a mud where everyone is on the same
level, something that if you read the statement or talk to an imm your
going to find is the whole point. Old herne horns and the like are
not even compareable to old gear of the past. Herne horns were by
far the most wildly used item in the game since the fight changes went
in 3 or 4 years ago. Items like cloaks of midnight or blinding wormies
or even foils were not used nearly on the scale that herne horns were.
I'm just sick of my 4 year old character being incredible and my 4
month old character being mediocre. I'm sorry if that doesn't fit
in with your ideas. But just likr you idea, this is mine, and I have
just as much of a right to post it as you do.

I do NOT like the idea of an eq wipe, for the same reason as ?Darkheart?
said, with everyone with no clothes...it's going to take forever for peopl
to get clothes!
I wouldn't mind changing or getting rid of old hit/dam/hp eq if the basic
stats sans hps/hit/dam were left the same on the eq itself. And strings
were left alone of course.
'Course I've already said all this before so blah.
