"In Spec"

I had a few questions about what exactly lands an item in spec. Obviously there's the whole net 5 stat thing, but where does either the rent or the difficulty in acquiring come in? If a builder makes an item that's +5 stat and 500 rent would it be considered in spec? What about a 5 str 6 dam held item that's 5500 rent? It seems to me that there should be an acceptable range for rent based on the ac, material, and net stat of an item, then if it falls below this range it needs to have additional penalties to be considered in spec and if it's over this range it gets a kickback towards being in spec. As far as weapons are concerned I guess weight of weapon seems to be factored into rent as well, or there's just something I don't understand since the average good str weapon is like 7k or so rent while the average good dex weapon is maybe 3500 - 4000 rent. Let's say there's this really difficult quest, takes like 10 hours of collecting items, being in the right place at the right time to perform a task, lotsa of effort involved, and the quest reward has a really high rent value associated with it, could this item be out of spec? -Martyr

From: Rufus Monday, April 03, 07:12AM 'In spec' only determines the minimum, NOT the maximum for rent. Therefore something with +1 and 3000000 rent is 'in spec' -Ruf

From: Pelleas Monday, April 03, 10:00PM but what martyr is saying(I think) is not to take away plus hit and dam items, and restrict very effective weapons, but to make the rent and the dificulty of acquiring(long quest and 1 per char) reflect the nature of the item, and allow better items in the game. At most a character can choose one or two items that are maybe 5k or so in rent(maybe 8500-15000{old nuada's} for weapons that complement the characters desired skills. Instead of lowering the output of dam and hit roll items, and the bonuses of weapons raise the rent and the difficulty of acquiring.
