No wonder imms take so long to make changes.
You guys all bitch and moan and cry when it happens. People
cryed when EVERY major change went in. But yet, if you
think of all the major changes in recent years, they were
all for the better.
For all the damage hitters, like Blackthorne, Blade, and
other randoms that I hear bitching and moaning because
they cant kill mobs with rage, bash, and 2 rounds, anymore..
too bad.
No one likes a big change. I had characters become useless
because of changes.. I had spam poulticers, I had spam mages...
I had mages that had 25 roots kept in a bag that went on
killing sprees of 2-3 pkillers one after the other. They changed
all that stuff... and you know what? all for the better. Im so glad
that all those spam poulticer snipers that copied my original idea
for Poetry.... are gone.
All of peoples demands for new eq now, and all that stuff. Thats
why imms hate making changes. Its you guys that make it so
hard.
Look what we have now... a mob that mends. Yeah, you are all
spoiled by Marauder.. We have a mob that timesites. Lots of good
changes.
I cant believe all the bs Im hearing about fighters and rent stuff.
With all this rent free, maybe a fighter could actually rent a dispel
now so they dont get binded.. new scrolls.. gildeds for use against
other fighters.. there are SO many things a fighter can use rent
for. I cant believe that people justified 30 str mages with
more damageroll than 100str gives. How ridicules.
Im happy for snipers now, cause backstab is still supreme, and
damage done by fighters is down a bit.. and Im glad for the importance
of hitroll... so now, dex mages and str mages hit about the same...
Everything is in the name of progress... maybe fighters will totally suck
now. If they do, post about, and they will change it. If chalice is too
strong, it could be changed.. etc. No one knows anything about this
system yet. Im amazed at how much dislike there is.
Anyway, you guys amaze me... such little F--Ks with no vision.

I would agree there are too many whiners immedietely when new
things go in the game that will change the status quo. There will always
be though and we will get over it and say that this is good I believe
in the future.

No amount of rent will protect you from immolates, wfws, blinds...
amulet's aren't available to all, and potions may prevent the effect
from sticking too long, but it won't stop you from crashing into a
huge mob.
Only thing that helped fighters before was that they could actually
bash, preventing the mage from doing anything for 2 ticks, and doing
enough damage so that they're forced to use their mana healing themselves
instead of causing damage.
That rule suffers when mages can outdamage or simply heal a ridiculous
amount. Old roots, spam augment allowed mages to heal a ridiculous
amount of hps, and str mages outdamaged fighters with bless (equivalent
of 15 dex's worth of hitroll).
On top of that was the problem that hit/dam rolls simply ceased to matter
after a certain point, a point attainable by mages with existing gear
and a few spells. 25hit, 35dam allows any 17kg weapon wielder to rip
when target is sitting, stunned, and/or raging. 25 hit happened to be
only 60 dex, worn riding, eye of cyclops, and a bless spell, 35 dam only
two herne's, 90 str, and a str spell. That leaves out a LOT of stat room
for mages of any circle to invest in other stats... upwards of 90 con
for a minimum spell flinger!
Getting rid of hit/dam eq was great in that now at least mages will be
limited to 15 hitroll and 23 damroll if they wanted to achieve the
same stats as before. Fighters who wanted to max stats now have a good
chance of having 8 more hitroll compared to mages....
At what cost, tho?
Now you have the option of creating a fighter char with 23hit/dam, and
roughly 90 con. And an option of creating a spellflinger, fully 2nd circl
with 15hit/23dam and 90con.
Both's rent cost will probably be around the same, except that the spell
flinger has an option of spending 4.4k to regen mana every two ticks, whic
can be translated into 18 hps or so per two ticks.
Spellflinger also gets the chance to crash the fighter, hide from the
fighter... not counting the effects that can be countered if a fighter
reacts quickly with appropriate vials.
Nothing has changed for the plain fighter, other than the fact that now
they're going to have a harder time fighting snipers, dex and con mages.
They're weakened the same amount, just about, when compared to str mages,
and weakened more compared to snipers, dex and con mages.
What gives?
If there are ever going to be any chance for a plain fighter, the requirem
for words should be upped. Mostly in perc and spirit. I agree that a mag
shouldn't have to spend any extra stats than the reqs for words in
order to meditate. Words' req should be upped to match the current
meditate requirement, and generally the requirements should be upped
so that there is a greater gap in fighting stats for spellflingers and
nonspellcasters.
For a 2nd circle mage, they only need invest 60 pts more than a fighter
with hunt. And that's assuming that the fighter gets his spirit to 0.
If the 2nd circle mage is cause or can brew, the gap is down to 50.
Most fighter chars leave their spirit around the teens, so gap of 40.
Making them idiocy proof, gap of 38. Dex being worthless other than
for hitroll and flee, gap of 23 if the mage has access to bless.
23 points for an entire spellbook's worth. 23 points of constitution
is at most 100 hps or so, which doesn't come even close to the amount
of hps that can be recovered by a mage of any kind. And 23 points of
difference in dexterity will still allow the mage char to tumble.
It's been a long post, and i guess i should just end it here and sum it
up later :p

From what I've seen on info, plain fighters are winning like half
their fights.. They don't seem that weak to me. O'course it
all depends whether you drag a fight out for cheesy chalice
healing, get wfw's etc.. Mages have a lot of options if you really
want to win bad, but in an honorable fight, it seems pretty even.
