I'll up the priority of the balance changes on our todo list and up
the priority of trying to make snipers a bit more viable in that
list.

Well, quickdrawing a rifle while wielding a spear/dagger doesn't
make sense. Of course it doesn't. But it doesn't make sense that
you can only go in one of 6 directions, also doesn't make sense that
you can zoom from macao to germany in 1 hr or less, carrying canoes
while wielding a huuuge sword, only having two fingers you can wear
rings on, having shoes so bright they show you the entire room, people
surviving a miraculous slash that nearly splits them into two, spells
that allow you to turn your skin into bark or stone, a voice that makes
you fight even with your guts spilling out, people bleeding freely
or leaking guts and still having enough senses to kick and bash and
cast spells not to mention stay conscious, trails that are preserved
over water, winds, in addition to them changing as the prey moves,
and in general, people getting away with murder everywhere.
Oh, and everybody simply slashes all at once, then they pause waiting
for the other to kick/bash/cast, then they go on slashing again, as if
on a coordinated stunt show.
We kick bunnies in the head and time travel, open a hole and time travel,
heck sometimes we even travel by giving bread. Geez.

Hey Ea!, of all my babble, the best idea that came out of that post
is making a lighter dagger para more often. That would be way cool.
Do you like that idea? I see gun-wielding snipers with low str, and a
light dagger getting an extra 10 stat points over bow wielders... I see
snipers with more than just the fear option on the ridicules backstabbing
spear.
And dont go crazy, last time, when you upped the stunned rate on
shooting with no weapon, you didnt think of the obvious strategy, to
to shoot with no weapon, stun, wield and backstab.... if you up the
para rates on small daggers... be subtle!
Anyway, there had to be some advantage to wielding a small weapon.
Right now, there is none... Big weapons do more damage at the same
damageroll.. nevermind the fact that most big weapon wielders have
more damageroll.
Consider the more paras for light weapons? if you disagree.. then post
And still, no imm was brave enough to step forward and take
responsibility for the quickdraw/2handed weapon change...
Anyway, its nice to see more attention turned to balance. I just hope
that the imms making the changes have pkilled at least once in the past
year.

Even beyond pkill, i like the light weapon increasing para's for the
reason that surgeons will be able to level themselves at low level in
mobkill. It's been awhile since i pk'd with anything but a tank so i
can't rightly comment, but in recently building a surgeon character
i found levelling extraordinarily hard at low levels. if that surgeon
could land an occasional para with his newbie dagger or trusty, then
the trouble would be considerably less. of course, once he learned to
operate, he had no shortage of people willing to let him tag along for
xp, but i think the low-damage high-para backstab would have helped, and
also could make for some interesting new popular weapon choices. c
anyhoo...

If lighter daggers para'd more, to any degree worth pondering the
use of them, then it could just be that ppl will carry another 8kg weapon
they'll use in case the lighter one para's. Sorta like, bs-light, use
heavy, light-bs-para, flee, draw heavy, heavy-bs-damage, etc. A bit
complicated, perhaps, but weightwise ppl could pull it off... for me it'll
cost me a shovel, tho...
Maybe there should be ultralight daggers, around the weight of a small
gavel, that will count as "no-weapon" in terms of shooting. You could sti
still backstab with it for a puny bit of damage, maybe draw a heavier
weapon (but as you'll be wearing a 2-handed gun, you'll have to rem gun
and dagger, and then wield heavy weaponry). It'll prolly do a
hit extremely hard, perhaps, but with the current noweaponshoot added
to it, a decent option.
Rest of the daggers still have their uses for various dex chars that don't
rely on backstabs, but for those to be useful they'd need at least somethi
like sloth, idiocy, weaken, limn, destroy armor, etc...
Too bad we couldn't code special type of ammo just like flaming arrows,
whose containers must be "wielded" (held, but nothing can be wielded if
you equip this type of ammo) to allow guns to fire more often or simply
do more damage. Rambo type guns for str-snipers, perhaps, that 'bind'
the shooter if he/she is wearing them, with some skill lag wearing/remming
(and prolly not able to mid-combat). Anyway, got a bit taken away from
the main point and all, but i'm all for giving more options of weaponry
for snipers. Either introduce more 8kg q5 daggers with stats of some
sort, or change the code to make other daggers more viable.
